THE SETTLEMENT, Anegada, VI- Around 4:00 pm today, May 16, 2024, electricity was fully restored on the island of Anegada according to both residents and confirmed by the BVI Electricity Corporation after a period of outage.

The power outage was due to technical difficulties according to an official at the company.

While the power company did not explain the extent of the technical difficulties that caused the electricity outage, our news centre understands that power has now been fully restored on the island.

Power off in Anegada due to 'technical difficulties'- BVIEC

THE SETTLEMENT, Anegada, VI- Within the past few hours, residents of Anegada have been without electricity.

The exact reason for the outage is unclear; however, a spokesperson of BVI Electricity Corporation (BVIEC) said it is due to technical difficulties.

"Our team is currently working to have the issue resolved as expeditiously as possible," the spokesman told our News Centre.

The BVIEC spokesperson also said the Corporation regrets any inconvenience caused.

Anegada has its own power plant; however, BVIEC has been spearheading efforts to have the island powered by solar energy.
