‘Refrain from suggesting inaccuracies’- Hon de Castro fires back @ Hon Mather
Hon Mather, while a guest on the Tuesday, April 30, 2024 edition of Cut Deep with host Rosemary L. Rosan aka 'Cindy', said his relationship with Hon de Castro is not such a great one; however, a meeting between the two on areas of education is pending.
“So the minister and I, presently, we're supposed to have a meeting. Have I sat with her and have conversations? No. Am I able to sit with her with ease and have conversations? No. Am I willing to sit and have conversations with her? I started out being willing to do it. Now I'm a bit apprehensive,” he added.
Hon Mather telling lies?
Hon deCastro, during the Question and Answer segment of the Tenth Sitting of the First Session of the Fifth House of Assembly (HoA) of the Virgin Islands (VI) today, Thursday, May 2, 2024, slammed Hon Mather for misinformation.
“Madam Speaker, despite recent statements suggesting otherwise, I want to clarify that I, along with senior officials in the Ministry, am eager to meet with the Honourable Member to discuss matters pertaining to education and youth development. Contrary to misinformation, I have expressed a willingness to accommodate the Member's schedule and engage in constructive dialogue,” Hon de Castro said as part of the response to a question posed to her.
The Education Minister, now in her second consecutive term as a legislator, said it is important to note that a previously scheduled meeting on February 23, 2024, was cancelled by the Member.
She said despite subsequent attempts by the Ministry to reschedule and accommodate the Member's availability, no response had been received.
“Let me take this opportunity to kindly request that the Member refrains from suggesting inaccuracies and inform the Ministry of his availability to offer his expertise by engaging in productive discussions that will benefit education and youth development in the territory,” Hon de Castro stated.
