Jeremy Nibbs accused of kicking police officer in face
On August 3, 2016 police of the East End Police Station were summoned to Greenland where Nibbs and his girlfriend were found in a fight in public. The officers tried as they may to quell the dispute between the two, however, Nibbs became further enraged and turned his anger to the officer, hurling indecent language towards them.
The man’s disorderly behaviour continued to escalate and officers warned that they would taze him if he failed to calm down. He then challenged the police, allegedly saying “Taze me you white mudda sk**t; taze me,” and the officer did just that.
He was then arrested and take to the police station where he continued his ranting as he once again began resisting arrest, putting up a fight during which time he allegedly kicked a police in the face and broke a chair. He was subsequently subdued by several officers and charged.
At the Magistrate’s Court, Nibbs pleaded guilty to the offenses of criminal damage to government property, two counts of disorderly conduct and indecent language to a police officer. He was also charged for assault with intent to prevent lawful apprehension but pleaded not guilty to that.
Nibbs told the court that on the day in question he was not his real self because at the time he was on medication and had simultaneously consumed alcohol.
The man was placed on $20,000 bail and is to return to court on February 17, 2017.
