BAUGHERS BAY, Tortola, VI—Outspoken commentator and former political consultant, Pastor Claude O. Skelton-Cline has publicly joined calls for the confirmation of Acting Commissioner of Police (CoP) Jacqueline E. Vanterpool, stating that she is more than capable of leading the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF).

Speaking on his popular broadcast, Honestly Speaking, Skelton-Cline on February 18, 2025, expressed strong support for Ms Vanterpool’s confirmation, echoing sentiments shared by other commentators.

‘She’s well able’

Calling for the Acting Commissioner of Police to be confirmed, he recalled, “I said a few years ago that I always believed that Acting Commissioner of Police Jacqueline E. Vanterpool should be [confirmed]; First of all, she's well able. She's more than able to lead the law enforcement via the police office. She's well able.”

Skelton-Cline also alluded to the role of external authorities, such as the Police Service Commission and the Governor, in the decision-making process, and insisted that Ms Vanterpool should be given a fair opportunity to assume the top position permanently.

Vanterpool should be 'given the opportunity'

“I don't know; they have some Police Commission, and I'm sure the Governor plays a role in the UK. But listen, I want to join my voice to the chorus in the Friday Sage’s blog and say that ‘acting’ should be dropped from the name of Ms Vanterpool, and she—that daughter of the soil—needs to be provided and given the opportunity to lead the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force.”

There had been speculation in the public that the governor, although publicly stating that Ms Vanterpool was doing a good job as Acting CoP, was in favour of the post going to Pam Trevillion. Ms Trevillion has since resigned as Assistant Commissioner of Police.

Of course you are the one to assess whether she has the skills! Get a grip, let those that understand the role and requirements select the best for us.

Back then we had local CoP’s. They took it away and look how much we are fighting to get it back. Be careful what you let them take away!

Everyone keeps saying shes well able to lead the Force. On what do they base this? does she meet the requirements for taking on such a role?

i have no angst with the good lady. this is a genuine question. I would like someone to explain why they feel this way (and don’t tell me she’s qualified because she’s a local).

@question, the same thing you are telling them not to tell you, is exactly what they are going to tell you, “She is local”. The local DPP was also ready because she is local, now look what happening to all the serious cases in the courts. It’s high time this born here/local mentality be cut out when it comes to taking on key roles/position in this country.

this is a person that is 63/64 yrs old should have retired a while ago and this is the person you want to head such an organization?? so what age should a commissioner retire??

So if she, at 63/64 should retire, then why the UK ones who they want to fill the role, who in most cases either already retired, or are at a way lower rank than those vying for the post locally can run it at the same age?

Why are we always fighting and questioning our own but sitting back and watching us being taken over by those who have no care either way!??

She has the requisite experience and training, that's why. She knows the people, the culture and won't be playing with these criminals. She is the best man for the job. Give her a chance!!!!!

She is qualified educationally, as well as strategically! In experience and common sense! Give her a chance!!
Those who are against can't give their own genuine reason why she shouldn't run the force! They can only speak what they hear!

She has one big problem and it's the politicians they don't support locals in positions she will be begging and begging and won't get the support from the local leaders to get the job done just ask Frazer

Frazer was the worst local commissioner he was only looking out for himself. Ms Vanterpool will make a good Commissioner for the Virgin Islands not like Amory and thank GOD that snake DC gone ....

How do you know she has the requisite experience and training?? Just time served, is not enough to be the strategic leader of a force facing serious criminality - get real!

So now CSK is an expert in what it takes to lead a police force! I like Ms Vanterpool but her time has passed and she was never ready for the top job. The k you Ms V now can we have somebody who can take the force forward and not have a singular qualification of being a local!

J.Vanterpool is not qualified to lead the rvipf into the future. She may be the people's choice but she is certainly not the police choice nor the Govonor's She does not know the law, she does not know policing tactics and she lacks knowledge in the day to day operation of the force and matters of discipline. She has done a lot to promote women in the organization and that's a positive. Competency is a huge problem . From top to bottom.

She would do a far better job than the racist ACP and the incompetent DPP would always support her slave's masters who think nothing good of her

Oh so CSC thinks if a native BVI person is commissioner he won't be arrested as the UK officers did?
