POCKWOOD POND, Tortola, VI- It was a few months ago when controversy erupted over a new land lease and cost to store derelict vehicles in Pockwood Pond, on the main Island of Tortola, on land belonging to business tycoon M. Ashley Ritter.

Information reaching our News Center is that negotiations failed over the continuation of the land lease through the Ministry of Health and Social Development for the storage of the derelict vehicles and other unwanted pieces of equipment.

Once the negotiation headed by Waste Management Director Mr. Marcus E. Solomon failed, the Government was forced to find a new location to store the derelicts. It is our understanding that the Government had until December 31, 2024, to find a new site as they faced eviction.

Move them our else-Landlord

The Department of Waste Management therefore put out a public tender for a new location and processing site which was won by a new landlord located at upper Pockwood Pond, believed to be owned by JXS Limited.

The Department of Waste Management has started removing the derelict vehicles with an independent contractor who also won a public tender for their removal. Mr. Solomon could not be reached for comments and is believed to be on vacation in his homeland, Trinidad & Tobago.

Hope they barricade the property with a nice high picket fence so that both local and visitors don’t see all that nastiness while driving past it .
