Dirk L Walters In! Retracts resignation & will remain BVITB Events Manager

J R O’NEAL DRIVE, Port Purcell, Tortola, VI- It was earlier this year (July 2024) that Mr. Dirk L. Walters tendered his resignation from the BVI Tourist Board (BVITB) as the Event Manager.

The main portion of his duties was to be the point officer for all BVI Festivals and Fairs events. However, in a turn of events and negotiations including what is our understanding, conversations with Minister for Tourism Premier Dr the Honourable Natalio D. Wheatley (R7), Mr. Walters, a Virgin Islander, has withdrawn his letter of resignation.

According to an email obtained by our news center on November 1, 2024, authored by the Human Resources Manager Arlene Thomas, Mr. Walters “will continue his employment with the BVI Tourist Board & Film Commission as the Event Manager”.

He is back

His return to the BVITB is effective from November 1, 2024. The terms and conditions of Mr. Walters' contract were not immediately obtained by our newsroom however, according to Ms. Thomas in her email, “Mr. Walters has been an integral part of our team, contributing greatly to our event management operations, as we are pleased to have him continue in this role”.

There were unconfirmed reports that there had been tensions between Mr. Walters and the Director of the BVITB Clive L. McCoy over micro-management issues.

Mr. Walters has in recent weeks been one of many local targets and victims of hate speech and slander by embattled and financially challenged queen of hate speech Rosemary L. Rosan, aka ‘Cindy, who many continue to associate with the ‘Mika Barry’ Platform, putting residents’ character, security and livelihoods in danger.

      The problem is that because she has no money it is not worth those that she libels bringing court proceedings against her. Her financial ineptitude protects her, but means she and her poor children live in virtual poverty.

        How much money do you have stupid. When will you bush people stop talking about people children. Your broke busted a.. is probably eating out the dumpster and begging someone to sleep on their couch or sleeping in one of the abandon vehicles in the bushes. Better yet you are a grown man or woman still living with your mother. Damn shame when a grown man or woman is still living with and MOOCHING off their parents. As a grown person, I would live in a camping tent on the beach before I go back to my parent home.

    Pfemier would have been better served using Dirk and tourist board to do the promoting and marketing of the Vybz Kartel show, since its considered a tourism product...Trust with the present situation is very low, as a matter a fact a lot of us don't think this show is going to come off, either he is going to be too sick to travel or he will need his balance befoe he get on stage and we won't have it. So the the reason will be, he is too sick to travel.

      My instinct is telling me the show is going to be a flop. Lots of people like myself think Steve got in over his head.I don’t have anything against Vybz Kartel He didn’t come to you, you went to him now you have to honor the contract and the Ryder.

    Once someone tenders their resignation it is a poor practice to reinstate ,usually the behaviours that produced the resignation dont change and in fact those behaviours get worse because now they believe they are indispensible . Weak move Premier.

      I am a Dirk and Sowanxe fan, two good and decent BVI men, are they perfect, no, but they are in my view dealing with them, they are not only good men, but great no nonsense leaders, they keep it real, no faking. That's my type of leaders.
