Why no visa restrictions for Vincentians? 'It’s easy to answer'- Zan Lewis

ZBVI News Director Zan Lewis called out Premier and Minister of Finance Dr the Honourable Natalio D Wheatley (R7) for using St. Vincent and the Grenadines when trying to justify his point about visa-free travel to the Virgin Islands (VI) for Guyanese nationals during a press conference on September 30, 2024. Premier Wheatley during a press conference on Monday, September 30, 2024, officially announced visa-free travel to the VI for nationals of Guyana and said there was no logical reason for Guyanese nationals needing a visa to enter the Territory while nationals from St. Vincent and the Grenadines did not. ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- ZBVI News Director and St Vincent and the Grenadines national Zan Lewis called out Premier and Minister of Finance Dr the Honourable Natalio D Wheatley (R7) for using St Vincent and the Grenadines when trying to justify his point about visa-free travel to the Virgin Islands (VI) for Guyanese nationals.

Premier Wheatley during a press conference on Monday, September 30, 2024, officially announced visa-free travel to the VI for nationals of Guyana.

The removal of Guyana from the list of countries needing visas to enter the Territory brings that list to ninety inclusive of four Caribbean countries, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Haiti and Jamaica.

No logical reason for Guyana nationals needing visa while Vincentians don’t- Premier Wheatley

The Premier said as it pertains to visas the current administration wants a regime that makes sense.

“For instance, you can’t tell me why Guyana should have a visa restriction and St. Vincent shouldn’t have a visa restriction. For me there was no logical reason for that to take place and also when we look at the logistics,” he explained.

Well, when it was Zan Lewis’ turn to pose questions to the Premier, he opened with telling the Premier it is “easy to answer, very easy to answer” why Guyanese nationals needed a visa to enter the VI and not Vincentians.

Talk show hosts Damion C. Grange and Elvin G. Grant have also called on the Premier to look into removing visa restrictions for nationals of Jamaica and also questioned why the island has not been considered for visa-free travel.

Premier Wheatley during the press conference also announced that discussions will begin soon with the Dominican Republic for a deeper working relationship and possible visa-free travel for their nationals.

I agree. If it is good for one, it should be good for all. Let Pandoras box be open. I have had better experiences in this country with Vincentians and Jamaicans that I have had with some of the Indian Guyanese. Some are ignorantly racist even against their own Guyanese who are black. Their racism is worse than the one you all accuse the UK of having. This visa free decision is going to create a new type of havoc in the society. Id rather welcome vincentians and jamaicans.

Guyana has oil. SO WHAT!!! SO WHAT??!!! Put country first! This is just looking like some under table deal that has zero benefit to the country. No matter how they try to explain it, it makes Zero sense. Would the Hon Andrew Fahie have allowed this mayhem? I think not.

The premier can take back his visa free travel because suddenly everyone and they grandmother wants the visa ban lifted for their country. The premier can raise all the visa bands and let's sit back and see what happens.
If Zan knows something then he should just open his big mouth and talk ????.
Jamaicans played tit for tat with their visa band. Now, their people here with some talk. Smh

Give the dominicans and guyanese(especially guyanese) ease of access for 3 things. Entry, land and farming license.
Watch the farming industry grow to the point where youll have to export produce.
Theyre willing to do the work that locals dont wanna

We too passive, ain’t no other country in the Caribbean will be accepting this sitting down. That is why they call us momoos. While you all at it, give Trinidad and Jamaica too. The US soon take back all those privileges, bc they done see the side effects of all this and I don’t blame them. They will all be flocking here, with half of them running through the window.

To answer Zan, simply put a visa requirement for St Vincent nationals since you playing tit for tat to satisfy that silly remark. Since you know the answer to the question, please share it with everyone. You always know something the rest of us do not know

  • BVI is not the same.. (06/10/2024, 17:09) Like (1) Dislike (5) Reply
BVI is not an attraction like it use to be,, more Caribean and Asian people are now flocking into places like SK with a strong economy. BVI economy is weak..BVI need to open the gates and free up people, put immigration controlling policy in place..Get as much people in here for Vacation aa possible they all will spend, they will eat. Drink and dress.

Zan is right. It seems to be the good fortunes of Guyana that have enticed this visa free arrangement. It shows that the prime minister does not care about caricom except to use them to further the selfishness and greed, the manipulation and usury of Tortolans.

You really know how BVI put in a visa restriction for Guyana. Please do your homeeork first before you open your mouth. And Vincentians hmmm...what are they adding to BVI? Check their involvement in serious crimes in the Territory over the years. Why Canada had to impose visa requirements for them? Hmmm
