‘We making a mistake of not holding each other accountable’- C. Michael Thomas
Mr Thomas, the Managing Director of Clarence Thomas Ltd (CTL) also opined that it was then Premier Andrew A. Fahie’s fight with then Governor Augustus J.U. Jaspert that triggered the CoI; however, the CoI is making some things happen in the territory that needed to happen.
“I understand there were things that needed to happen that we would never do ourselves, because, again, we are a small country and we don’t want to offend anyone.
“But, I keep telling them, sometimes we have to hold our people accountable and let’s set the country on the right path. What we are doing is we are creating a society that the next generation will have a hard time dealing with,” Mr Thomas, who did not go into specifics, stated on Talking Points on ZBVI 780 AM on May 6, 2024.
'I really think y’all up to something'
Emphasising it is his personal opinion, Mr Thomas said he met the former Governor Jaspert a few times and told him, “I said, Your Excellency, I really think y’all up to something and you don’t want us to know what it is.
“I said at the end of the day I really think you up to something and I said I know you want to fix it for us, I know you want what’s best for us but...” Mr Thomas said before host Damien C. Grange noted that he couldn’t say that with confidence about the former governor.
Mr Thomas continued that the VI is a special place and that it is different from the rest of the Caribbean.
“We don’t want to hold each other accountable. I think that is the mistake we are making. We want to get away with murder and think it is ok. No, you [are] sending a wrong message to the next generation.
“I don’t know where we going to end up... if we will be penalised and slapped on the wrist for it. I don’t know that, but time will tell,” Mr Thomas stated.
Meanwhile, ex-Premier Andrew A. Fahie, 53, was found guilty on February 8, 2024, on several counts of drug smuggling, money laundering, and racketeering, after he was arrested at a Miami Airport on April 28, 2022.
His sentencing hearing will take place on June 25, 2024.

Police Force: A local lawyer was shot in his home. Did not die right away and called 911. Nothing happened. Prison: A young man from East End escaped from the Prison and it took months on this little rock to find him. Because police officers don't talk to people. They sit in the Station or drive around in their cars and thumb their noses at us and expect us to take up our phones and call people that we do not know and trust.
Civil Service: Oh, well, lots of what is happening there can be fixed. Nothing happening. Hurricanes Irma/Maria: They came. They saw. We were on our knees or on our backs on the wet soil and again, Nothing Happened. Yes. there was a loan guarantee, but a hundred thousand dollars for those who lost their roofs? Well, nothing happened.
So while we need someone to come to our aid, like in the past, we better fix this b**ch ourselves. Nobody is coming in on their white horses wanting to help us out. So stop living in dream land.
hung on to in the BVI and not returned or given over to the local agents to see to the return to the states. instead
