VI’s Yohance T. Smith wins Mr Caribbean


he VI was represented by 23-year-old Yohance T. Smith who took the title in front of scores of persons.
Smith, who is the reigning Mr Junior BVI 2017/18, also won Best Evening Wear and was consistent in all the other segments.
For being crowned Mr Caribbean 2019, Smith received a studded Mr Caribbean official Medal, a sash, $7000 TT, and the opportunity to travel around the Caribbean as an ambassador.
T&T named First Runner Up
1st runner up went to Johnathan Samuel of Trinidad who captured Best Magnificent Wear and Best Swim Wear.
There was a tie for 2nd runner up between Kofi Guilks of Barbados, who captures Best Talent and Jorvan Kerwin Jno Baptiste of Dominica, who captured Mr Photogenic.
Mr Intellect went to Timoy Titus of Antigua and Barbuda and Mr Personality went to Andel McIntosh of Tobago.
The other contestants were Deshawn Augustine of St Lucia and Marvin Halden of Suriname.

‘I came, I conquered’
Mr Caribbean 2019, Yohance T. Smith spoke with Trinidad and Tobago media house, Newsday, backstage after his big win.
“I came here thinking I was the underdog, as nobody ever represented the British Virgin Islands in Mr Caribbean. I came, I conquered, and I came out successful... I’m very, very happy and I know I made my entire country happy, and especially my mom."
Smith said his country, although small, has been making a name for itself.
