ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- The question on the minds of many persons, particularly those in the hospitality industry, when the Territory would reopen to tourists in this COVID-19 pandemic, was answered today, September 21, 2020, by Premier and Minister of Finance, Honourable Andrew A. Fahie (R1).

According to Premier Fahie, the Territory will reopen its borders to international visitors on December 1, 2020.

The Premier made the announcement via a video presentation at the unveiling of the British Virgin Islands Tourist Board’s (BVITB) BVILOVE brand.

According to Hon Fahie, the December 1 date was set in order to give Government enough time to test and retest the system prior to reopening.

The Territory has been closed to tourists for some six months now due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

More details to follow.

@ Really. I rebuke that in the Mighty Name of Jesus..we are to have faith in God. He have shown us “Great Mercy“ in His Love for us as a people and He will continue To do so In our repentance and obedience.. but we have to also do our parts for faith without works is dead.. even now and going forward As our borders open eventually let us “All”, taxi drivers, “Everybody” continue to institute the measures we were advised to in trying to keep us safe and we keep praying for God’s Continued Protection and Guidance for our leaders.. If God be for Us, who can be against us.. to God enemies seen and unseen “Must” bow.. Let us Never forget God’s Goodness to us.. A young pastor Preached on Sunday that our Victory is tied to our our obedience and that we remember the “Blesser” and not just our Blessings.. we stay faithful and we show Love - this is what God requires of us to do..

Let’s hope some of the not so friendly and unprofessional IMMIGRATIONS change their attitude and improve their service to coincide with the BVI LOVE brand. It’s the attitude of just a few Officers that reflect and make us look bad. Thank God I will be able to visit my wife.

if we all wear masks...and keep sticking to the health protocols there will be less cases when we reopen tha you think.

i just dont think we will be ready even in 2 months. it takes 6 weeks to get certificates from tax nhi and SSB.... so how can those businesses who need work permits renewed get them processed in time ........ its going to be a free for all....undocumented workers......untrained people moving into jobs....government need to speed up the process..where is the logic in accepting receipts of proof that tax certificates have been applied for...yet labour want the actual certificates from nhi and ssb..( which take the same 4-6 weeks to process as the tax certificates do...just not logical....how can we be ready by dec 1st.

I readly agree that hard times are upon us, but we should in mind that covid-19 is still raging. The two countries that we depend on for tourist dallare are the USA and the Uk, as far as I know. They have not gotton the covid 19 under control, nor do other contries have. Why allow fear to cloudy our minds, and ignorantly rush to reopen our borders before we get to know of credible progress made against the deadly virus. Wisdom is base on knowledge. Knowledge is a word that has two important sylibles. The first one Is the word know snd the second word is ledge. when we know we are as those place on a high ledge. We see things greater than eagles do. We see things through the lense of God vision, and do things as He know. I urge you, Please, get knowledge, for wisdom is only proven by the right use of knowledge. Remember, Wisdom is far more precious than silver, gold, and all others material created things. God love is eternal, so does His Wisdom. God bless!

Da giant bag of diseases that come in here from international travellers completely beats out the damage that can be done by covid. Covid is 1 thing but why people forget bout everythibg else? Yall should be up in arms about alot more than covid because tourism is the number 1 way that viruses travel the globe.

What is the plan? Are people going to need to be tested? Before they get here or after? Or, are they going to have quarantine for 14 days? And, if testing is required, how will day traffic from St. Thomas be managed? If people can come, then presumably they can leave, so will BVIslanders be allowed to go to St. Thomas. How will that be managed? And, how will cruise ships (assuming they too are coming back) be managed? The devil is in the details. A plan is essential. It won’t be perfect and will probably need adjustment, but you can’t just open the flood gates on 1/12 without some form of control, if keeping virus cases down in the Territory is important.

If and when we open our borders come Dec. 1, 2020, how will we be able to control six foot apart on the tourist-filled Safari buses? O Lord, please help us, for when the leaders of any Country ignors sound knowledge, lack of sound judgment and actions errors are, and will, approved. This saying remain true: "Where the holy angels fear to trod, fools rush therein." Father, our Creartor, Only true God and Savior, protect from all adversaries. May you by Your Knowledge, Wisdom, and supreme Power of Your Love, in Jesus holy and ssving name. Amen.

We have to show love internally to our fellow Caribbean people before we can show love externally to Tourists. Some of us Hate our fellow coworkers whom we see every day for no reason. We Grunt and sometimes don’t even answer to a simple good morning or good afternoon to people we are seeing everyday. This island is too small for so much hate when we are seeing the same faces every day and yet we hate each other. No matter how nice the country is and the people are not, it takes away from the experience. I hope this BVI LOVE is not about loving the Tourists Money but Hate the Tourists.
