UPDATE: Keshawn Baronville remanded to prison for firearm find in EE
Keshawn Baronville, 30, of Fort Hill, was charged with Carrying a Firearm Without a Licence and three counts of Possession of Explosives.
He appeared at the Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, September 7, 2023, and was remanded to His Majesty’s Prison.
More assistance needed from public- Police
Acting Commissioner of Police, St Clair Amory in a press release today, September 8, 2023, stated that he is grateful for the support provided by the public and the officers who continue to do their part in bringing these offenders to justice.
He, however, reiterated that more assistance is needed from the public to minimise the threat of gun violence in our communities.
"If you see something, say something. Every life is valuable, but it will take our combined effort to apply our individual willingness to achieve the change needed to tackle these illicit activities.”
Semi-automatic pistol recovered by police; One arrested- RVIPF
A spontaneous operation by Police in the East End area of Tortola earlier today, September 6, 2023, resulted in a firearm being recovered.
One Semi-Automatic Pistol and a significant amount of ammunition were recovered during the operation, the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) stated in a press release today, September 6, 2023.
It said one suspect has been arrested and taken into custody.
"The investigation is still active; therefore, no further information can be provided at this time," the RVIPF stated.
2nd firearm recovered this week
This is the second firearm recovered since the start of this week.
On Sunday, September 3, the RVIPF recovered an AK-47 assault rifle and a significant amount of ammunition.
One suspect, Keron Hodge, was also arrested and has been charged in connection with that recovery.

I hope the courts take thses gun matters seriously and stop giving out slap on the wrist sentences.
