RVIPF to mark Golden Jubilee with pageant
Constables Delma Tavenier-Perez and Joeverne Webb, and Acting Chief Inspector Smyrna Brewley have been identified as the three contestants taking part in the show, which has been described as a “lighthearted event.”
The local pageant will take place on Saturday October 29, 2016 at the Road Town Police Station from 7:00 P.M.
They will compete in Drills, Talent and Evening Wear.
The event will be held as part of the RVIPF’s 50th anniversary as an independent body of the Leeward Island Police Force on February 27, 2017.
To mark the golden milestone, the RVIPF will in its Police Week, also happening in February, be engaging in a number of activities inclusive of the Regional Police Pageant.
Co-chair of the pageant organising committee, Sergeant Jacqueline Tom-Christopher said police pageants are increasingly becoming popular across the Caribbean as a tool to bridge the gap between the Police forces, while at the same time creating a well-needed diversion to what is largely deemed a stressful profession.
Sergeant Tom-Christopher stated that in 2014 the Virgin Islands was invited to participate in a similar pageant in Anguilla.
“…And, even though we were unprepared, we sent a representative and I chaperoned,” she remarked. “It was a light and very entertaining event, and so I was asked to host a similar event during next year’s 50th Golden Anniversary line-up.”
