Residents called upon to ‘step up & stomp crime out’ of VI
“As the Deputy Governor, my number one priority is to ensure the well-being of each of our 2500 public officers and by extension, the residents of these beloved Virgin Islands. Across the public service law enforcement officers are task with leaving their homes and families to ensure the safety of us all. Or police. customs, immigration and prison officers all have this big responsibility.”
Law enforcement can't do it alone - Mr Archer
He said the reality is, however, that law enforcement officers cannot tackle crime alone and need the support of the people of the VI.
“So today I am joining with them in the fight against crime. I am making a pledge to do my part, and I am humbly encouraging us to do the same. Now it's time to. Step up to the plate. We all have this undeniable responsibility to look after each other. We all have responsibility for the safety of ourselves and those around us.”
The Deputy Governor said in times like this when persons may find themself constantly exposed to the news of crime traversing the streets and causing the vulnerable among us to live in a constant state of fear, power is found in the response to such crimes.
“Today I want to charge us all, you and I like to respond. Firstly, step up today I believe in the power of unity, the collective action. I am calling on everyone from our public officers to our young students to step up and play an active role in the fight against crime,” he said.
The Governor said the involvement can range from reporting suspicious activities to participating in local neighborhood watch groups and the first step to curbing the issue of crime is recognizing the need to simply step up to it.
Participation from all is needed - Deputy Governor
“Secondly, stomping crime out... will take targeted collective action and participation from us all. We must be willing to truly do what it takes to make our home safe for us all. The key to eradicating crime from our doorsteps will be our willingness to be brave enough to speak out against these wrongs that plague the very communities our children grow up in.”
Deputy Governor Mr. Archer further charged that the VI cannot let the actions of a few define the country as a nation, and instead, community members must define the VI for themselves through resilience and determination to stamp out crime for the future of the territory.

Can’t say anything because the police will say who talked.
How's that war on drugs going? We continue doing the same BS and wonder why nothing is changing. Its the definition of crazy insane behavior.
Do whatever it takes to get locals on the police force and stop separating the people from the police!
Police should not be under the governor, he has an army at his disposal. Navy ships, helicopters he can make up an excuse & call them at will.
Legalize weed & allow at home cultivation or you will get a generation hooked on whatever the real criminals mix into it. We are going from paradise to hell on earth real quick.
