SEA COWS BAY, Tortola, VI- Sometime after 3:30 AM this morning, Sunday, January 29, 2023, a powerboat caught fire and sustained significant damage in Sea Cows Bay.

The boat was on dry dock across from De La Santa Bakery in the area where Struggling Man was once located.

The circumstances surrounding the origin of the fire are unclear at this time.

Chief Fire Officer Zebalon A. McLean told our news centre the call about the fire was received at 3:45 AM.

He said a white vessel with two outboard engines attached received major fire damage; however, fire officers were able to save the powerboat from complete destruction.

No injuries were reported.

“Investigations continue,” Mr McLean stated.

It is unclear who owns the powerboat.

That's crazy!! At least nobody was hurt and the fire didn't spread to nearby homes. Good job by the firemen.

Well, the owner of the boat has to have come forward by now so they can make out a report. Why do people do such rotten things like this? It seems to have been a nice-looking boat. SMDH

In the BVI speed boats never burn in the day only in the night. These things don't just catch afire by themselves at night. Electrical fires are possible at day too, just saying.

In the British Virgin Islands, speedboats only catch fire at night. Fires don't start overnight by themselves in these items. Just a heads up that electrical fires phrazle may happen during the daytime too.
