Pickering-Maynard sentenced to 9 years imprisonment for drug smuggling plot

Pickering-Maynard, who also served as Labour Commissioner, will serve an additional five years of supervised release.
Judge Williams opted for a sentence below the advisory range of 11 years and three months to 14 years, citing Maynard's acceptance of responsibility, absence of a prior criminal record, medical issues and her age.
Plea deal
Pickering-Maynard had pleaded guilty to the cocaine conspiracy charges as part of a plea deal with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) to testify against Mr Fahie.
Her son, Kadeem S. Maynard, also pleaded guilty to cocaine conspiracy charges as part of a similar plea deal and was sentenced on November 20, 2023, to 57 months in prison for conspiracy to import cocaine into the United States.
Meanwhile, Mr Fahie, 53, who was found guilty on February 8, 2024, on charges of drug smuggling, money laundering, and racketeering, after he was arrested at a Miami Airport on April 28, 2022, will be sentenced on August 5, 2024.
His lawyers have requested a minimum 10-year sentence.
