WEST END, Tortola, VI- [Post Time: 8:00pm] Information just reaching our news centre is that a large quantity of cash was seized and 2 arrested when a joint operation between HM Customs and US Customs and Border Protection found a go-fast boat in Virgin Islands waters this afternoon, Monday, November 9, 2020.

According to reports, more than $99,000 in cash was recovered and the go-fast boat has also been seized.

The incident occurred sometime around 4:00pm.

Comptroller of Customs, Mr Wade N. Smith confirmed the reports to Virgin Islands News Online, adding that investigations are ongoing.

Charter vessel fined $20k for illegal entry

In a separate incident, the surveillance platform detected a US based charter vessel in the Territory’s waters.

The vessel was fined $20,000 for illegal entry, Mr Smith disclosed.

The Virgin Islands had heightened its border surveillance following a spike in COVID-19 cases in August, which was blamed on human smuggling and illegal entry.

They were charged $20,000 for illegal entry? who charged them? They were taken before the Magistrate's Court this afternoon? Please clarify.

HM Customs does not need to take any vessel owner to court to charge them for illegal entry. Some of you need to read and learn the laws of the country and fact check before coming on here and running off your mouth

@ home grown.. If you had read the article you would've read that no where does it says the Br. Navy had any involvement, it clearly states US/ BR.Virgin island customs. So what are you thinking the governor about? Also look up in your dictionary the difference between BOARDERS/ BORDERS.

Now we are seeing action with our Border Protection. Catch them all and keep everything they smuggle in. The illegal entry fine should have been $50,000. Keep their boat, money, guns, everything. So happy.

Good job well done. Clean up this racket. We all know what’s at the bottom of this and the gangster executions and shooting deaths are all part of it. Kudos to the team that apprehended this boat. One is a good start. Stay vigilant.

Good job!..”the love of money is the root of all evil”.. I don’t understand why some humans are so money-grubbing even if it’s at the expense of hurting another.. God exposes “Everything” in due time. The old people used to say “moon does run til day catch you”.. BVI is too small for all of what’s happening.. I keep begging us to pray against all of this evil that is being brought against our land you know. It’s going up in the nostrils of God and He is “to be feared”..

WS stop your lies. You worse than Trump. You always want to look and sound better than you and your officers are and some fools falling for it.
Who search the boat who recovered the cash and was Customs officers alone on that job. Excluding the U.S Boarder Officers.
Stop your dam lies. Bout Customs like is them alone that was there. I hope they can go and give their evidence and write their statements.
