Oleanvine Pickering-Maynard expected to testify against ex-VI Premier Andrew A. Fahie
Mr Fahie will be heading to trial alone on drug charges as he has not struck a plea deal and according to his lawyer, Theresa Van Vliet, her client intends to fight the charges at trial.
The former premier, along with Pickering-Maynard and her son Kadeem S. Maynard, was arrested in April 2022, following a months-long sting operation by agents with the Drug Enforcement Administration.
Plea deal
The three were charged with conspiring to import cocaine and engage in money laundering, along with attempted money laundering and racketeering. The Maynards have since pleaded guilty to the cocaine-smuggling conspiracy charge under a plea deal.
Maynard was sentenced in a Miami court to 57 months in jail on Monday, November 20, 2023, for his role in a scheme to traffic cocaine from Colombia through the [British] Virgin Islands to the US mainland.
The 32-year-old had pleaded guilty under a plea deal reached in June, alongside his mother, to conspiracy to import a controlled substance. The proffer agreements for the Maynards indicated that they, alongside former VI Premier Andrew A. Fahie, conspired with a confidential source of the Drug Enforcement Administration to smuggle thousands of kilograms of cocaine through Tortola waters.
He will be deported from the United States upon completing his sentence.
Pickering-Maynard ‘required’ to testify against Fahie
Maynard’s plea agreement does not require him to testify at Fahie’s trial set for January in Miami federal court.
In her plea agreement, Oleanvine Pickering-Maynard admitted that she introduced an informant to Fahie and together they used their authority to facilitate the purported cocaine-smuggling plan. She is scheduled for sentencing after Fahie’s trial, which starts on January 8, 2024.
Her plea agreement requires that she testify against Fahie.
Meanwhile, Pickering-Maynard’s sentencing hearing is scheduled for January 18, 2024, ten days after Mr Fahie’s trial is set to begin.

The Topic Issue is an ongoing case of wrong vs right practice in the Court Of Law due to alledge misbehaviors by the three mentioned named persons in the Topic Issue.
It is unfortunate that what have, and are continuing happening is worldwide humongous challenge that wars against good governance.
In spite of predicament that they, the three named persons are now facing, the question still remains will other political leaders, and government department learn from their misstep? It is possible, but only if seeds (good thoughts, right word, and selfless actions become the norm or normal practices, daily.
Each dollars in hand is likened as a seed. When spent wisely prosperity is assured, but to the contrary, when finances are misused by deceptive actions the consequence of those actions must be paid, sooner or later.
I hope, though, that the former Premier, and Mrs. Oleanvine Maynard-Pickering, former BVIPA Director, would be granted a measure of mercy at the conclusion of their up and coming trial in Miami Court Of Law January 2024.

You are mistaken. Looks like you do not understand what a conspiracy charge is. Let me get you up to speed. A conspiracy charge is an agreement between two or more people to commit a crime. The purpose of agreement does not matter; what matters is that the parties knowingly agreed.
If you are thinking because as he stated when he was being arrested, he had no drugs or money on him, therefore no crime was committed, then you and him will be in for a big surprise. Based on everything out there in the media, I would argue he is unlikely to be exonerated. Not to mention there is reportedly audio and video evidence of him partaking in the alleged conspiracy to allow drugs to pass thru the BVI enroute to the U.S.
At any rate, time will tell. No need to go further. January is around the corner, and we will find out soon enough who was right and who was wrong.
