No suspension of VI Constitution, Governor’s portion in CoI not completed
Many in the hater and regressive class are still advocating for the United Kingdom to recolonise the Virgin Islands (VI) by suspension of the Constitution and impose a one man directorship (usually an unelected Governor) though direct rule.
This would mean no democratic elections, no House of Assembly (HoA), no Cabinet, just a one man junta or strong-man running the VI like it is done in North Korea, China and Cuba. The notion of a dictatorship has been rejected by many in the west including decolonisation committees at the United Nations, the Caribbean Community, the Government of the USVI and the Organisation of American States, and many progressive residents.
No Suspension of constitution- FCDO source
However, according to Virgin Islands News Online's source in the Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO), there will be no recolonisation via the suspension of the VI Constitution.
While both the Governor, and Premier Dr the Hon Natalio D Wheatley (R7) are expected to admit that the CoI implementation is not complete in a Friday August 30, 2024, joint press conference, the constitution and democracy will stay intact.
It is also important to note that the Dr Wheatley’s Administration has made substantial progress and they are close to 80% complete, however, many of the items under the Governor and Deputy Governor are still to be completed.
The FCDO source noted that His Excellency has reported that they are working together in good faith to complete the recommendations and some of the items that Mr Pruce is responsible for are holding up getting to the 100% mark.
Another extension?
When asked what was the next step, and if another extension will be granted, the source said, “You will have to wait for the press conference as presentations are still being worked on as we speak”.
The VI’s HoA has been spending a very high number of hours doing their best to pass the CoI recommendations via Bills, as many legislators noted that they have resulted in the country being at a standstill.
Many of the Bills being passed have taken the Territory backwards, according to Opposition Leader Hon Ronnie W. Skelton (AL) and outspoken Sixth District Representative Hon Myron V. Walwyn.
Many in the progressive and talk show class have continued to question the legitimacy of the CoI report and claim that Legislators had a gun to their heads to agree to the over 50 recommendations.
Millions spent on CoI, country worse off?
Many have argued that the CoI implementation has pushed the VI backwards, increased poverty, dried up the Treasury with millions and millions for UK police officers and new CoI staff, and created a target list of Virgin Islanders who speak out for justice. Once they speak out they are on a list for questionable arrests and charges to paint every one in the country in a negative light and only the UK Police Officers and the Governor can save the VI.
Some Legislators have rejected this script as racist, self-serving and a way to take over the Territory via the backdoor. Opposition Legislators continue to criticise many provisions in the CoI driven Bills and the double standards to turn the VI into a bureaucratic state and make our democracy and elected officials meaningless.
The CoI was headed by one man retired judge Sir Gary R. Hickinbottom KC; however, the Order in Council is expected to remain unchanged as a gun over the heads of the people to intimidate, according to one talk show host on a morning show.

Muli-million of dollars I heard and read have been mismanaged in unconstitutional ways. Millions more on the CoI recommendations investigations. As of this topic Issue the August 31, 2024 Governor Daniel Pruce's extension not to be concluded. If true, many and I see this as political Merry-go-round Circus mismanaging scheme by both the UK and our political Leaders been elected for honest management of our much needed finances, for the Spiritual and physical betterment of all the people of the British Virgin Islands best interest.
If things are to continue on that radical disparity part, I truly believe that the BVI will be sink into a quicksand like Spiritual, physical, immoral, and economical, slope without recovery within the next six years or there about.
Man Was Created To Served His Creator And Second his Fellow Human being Unselfishly.
Until then, the chaotic radical disparity will continue unabated.
The UK is not the answer. Neither is our political Leaders and the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force, nor academic knowledge.
Only genuine love is.
GOD IS LOVE AND LOVE IS GOD.
How quick we are to forget how people were getting fired for a 'jab' during covid when every employee was at risk due to the sudden economic loss & looming apocalypse. We forget people fighting over masks, and forget that everyone in the US got a covid check to spend free & every civilized country wanted to follow including those that don't print money.
Without those grants some people could have been fired or business close.
