ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- A man who allegedly attempted to smuggle cannabis into the Virgin Islands through the Road Town Ferry Terminal has been arrested and charged.

J’Quoi Lloyd, 26, of Valley, Virgin Gorda, has been slabbed with several drug-related charges, including Possession of a Controlled Drug with Intent to Supply to Another and Untrue Declaration and Importation of a Controlled Drug.

According to the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) in a press release today, October 7, 2024, the charges follow a joint operation between RVIPF officers and Customs officials at the Road Town Ferry Terminal on September 9, 2024.

It’s about time we stop taking away people freedom over a plant. Legalize it, regulate it, tax it! Then use that money to do good things like repairing your infrastructure, support your healthcare system, provide scholarships etc. cause guess what the people who want to smoke weed will still find weed to smoke you can’t stop it because it’s a plant all it need is dirt water and sunlight. The notion that you preventing people from smoking weed by keeping it illegal is a fallacy. Now this is a young able bodied person you have to feed up the jail where they still got weed to smoke up there apparently.

People have been growing it here since the beginning of time. They use it for their personal ailments. They grow it in pots in their homes. Make the stuff legal already. So many tourists come here asking for it because they cannot bring it in. The amount of money that could support families would be wonderful. No more hunger no more medical pain. We could support ourselves without looking for help from the government. But this too will be ignored.

I must make it quite clear that we must always try out best to obey the laws of the land. That said, I totally agreed ????, that Marijuana should legalized. The "Most High" created this plant and we should not be incarcerated in anyway for using it.

Natural herb? Question. Did he declare it? Did he pay customs duty on it? When you trying to right wrongdoing ask the right questions too. I have to paid duty on things I want to sell in the BVI. Hope he get charge for that, too.
