Local Ellison L. George appointed Marina Manager of Scrub Island Resort
Mr George, a [British] Virgin Islander, will oversee daily operations of the marina, docks and ferry boats at both Scrub Island Resort and Marina Cay Bar & Grill.
“Ellison brings an impressive list of certifications and experience in the marine industry to our team,” said Scrub Island Resort, Spa & Marina General Manager Sandra Grisham in a press release on Wednesday, December 6, 2023.
“In addition to his industry skill set, his knowledge of the Caribbean, our local waterways, and the boating lifestyle make him ideally suited to welcome and meet the needs of our overnight marina guests and island-hoppers,” Grisham added.
George’s journey
George began his career as a customer service representative with The Moorings. He then spent time as a crew member at Native Son Inc. and later joined the BVI Ports Authority as a Marine Officer 1.
The new Marina Manager of Scrub Island Resorts also spent almost a decade as a certified diver for Nautic Divers, working with search and recovery, inspections, light dock construction “and more. He has completed multiple professional development training courses specific to the marine industry, including first aid, firefighting, and hazardous materials training, to name a few,” Scrub Island Resort stated.
Located in the “sailing capital of the Caribbean,” the serene private island haven of Scrub Island Resort is home to one of the newest full-service marinas in the [British] Virgin Islands. Named a Boaters’ Choice Marina by Marinas.com, Scrub Island Resort offers a 55-slip marina for lease or transient docking, including five accommodating mega yachts up to 160 feet.
