HUNTUMS GHUT, Tortola, VI- Noting that he is well aware there are many questions regarding what will happen when the mandatory 24-hour curfew ends, Minister for Transportation, Works and Utilities, Honourable Kye M. Rymer (R5) has assured that Government is working diligently to identify, develop and put in place the solutions to ensure that all the social, physical and economical concerns are kept in focus and addressed.

In an encouraging address to his constituents and by extension the Territory today, March 29, 2020, Honourable Rymer pleaded with residents to not accept hopelessness but to keep faith alive during this period.

The Virgin Islands proceeded on mandatory lockdown from 8:00pm on Friday, March 27 until Thursday, April 2, 2020, to help mitigate the spread of COVID-19. Two cases have so far been confirmed in the Territory.

“I am positive what is necessary now for children to feel safe and have continuity in their lives our Minister of Education and his team are working diligently to ensure that our youth have the support to keep moving forward.”

Hon Rymer also reminded that Cabinet approved for the Water and Sewerage Department (W&SD) to provide water for free to customers and to supply water to persons in areas with service disruptions.

He asked persons facing disruptions to contact the Water and Sewerage Department to have water delivered.

‘Enjoy the simpler things’

“Residents of the Fifth District, and by extension the Territory, these next few days may seem difficult but I want to reinforce that we must all take a positive outlook during the curfew days and enjoy the simpler things.”

The Minister also offered some suggestions on how persons can pass the few days under lockdown.

“Spend time with family, catch up on household tasks, do some reading, spend some time reading the Bible. Use this free time to connect on the phone with relatives and friends. Try cooking some new dishes and use some time to exercise and stretch. These are excellent ways to decompress.”

Honourable Rymer continued that he is asking residents to not become frustrated or angry, “or accept a sense of hopelessness. Let us keep faith alive. Let us smile and ask God Almighty to give us hope, to give us strength and to give us confidence in his plan.

“May he continue to watch over this Virgin Islands and his people,” Hon Rymer stated.

I personally feel the 24hr lock down was a great idea, some may not see it that way but picture the taught of you laid up in a hospital bed with no family or friends dying alone from this invisible killer that spread from host to host that don't adhere to the rules put in place that helps slow the spread . I'll rather take the 24hr lock down with the people I care about that that lonely hospital bed hooked up to all them wires.

I for sure am a bit confused as to this whole lock down. I understand the dynamics of COVID 19, but What happens after 6:00am on Thursday is the virus going to disappear and we go back to our mass gatherings, socializing etc. I think there is much more to this whole lock down. Seeking some enlightenment please educate me.

In order for the New World Order to complete their agenda the world mustbe compliant, now that said you have to figure out how are you going to get the world to be compliant and this is a perfect example of how you can get Mass amounts of people to follow your agenda. And of course in their plan is to take away your civil rights that is number one in order for them to exist....

The reason New York has such a high rate of death and positive cases is because people refused to obey the law. I am here in NYC fearful for my children life because their jobs require them to be outside. BVi does not have NYC population. The virus could wipe out the country in a week. Pastor Cline is a selfish man . COD HELP THE BVI.

Yes we are enjoying the simpler things, the peace and quiet without the nuisance scooter noise. You need to rethink that big bike ban. This is not about you and your likes. There are other top priority areas you should be working on and executing. No matter how much you love bikes and probably would want a HD.
