Late Prince Philip reportedly ‘embodied European bigotry & xenophobia’
Described as the longest-serving and most loyal consort of the British monarchy alongside his wife Queen Elizabeth II, Prince Philip’s death also resurrected stories of his darker sides, labelled a product of British colonialism.
In a shocking series of quotes shared across social media and online, Philip was also portraited as having a long history of seemingly racist, offensive, and xenophobic comments.
A man who spoke his mind, the Prince’s tongue often landed him in hot water.
Racism & Xenophobia?
One writer El Mehdi EL Azhari on the Medium platform, said some of the Prince's jokes manifested a form of aristocratic condescension, even xenophobia or imperial racism.
The Prince in 2003 allegedly told the President of Nigeria who received him dressed in the traditional boubou, “You look like you’re ready for bed!”
To an aboriginal, he asked in 2002: “Do you still throw spears at each other?”
To an Indian boss, at a ceremony celebrating the UK’s diversity in 2009: “There are a lot of people from your family tonight!”
In another quote viewed as xenophobic, he asked someone, “What exotic part of the world are you from?” The Jamaican Lord replied, “From Birmingham.”
To a group of deaf children standing near a steel drum orchestra in the Caribbean in 2000, the Prince allegedly said: “Deaf? If you’re near there, it’s no wonder you’re deaf,” he blurted out.
Reincarnation as a deadly virus
In a more famous and shocking quote about life after death, the Prince said he wanted to solve overpopulation should he be reincarnated.
“In the event that I am reincarnated, I would like to return as a deadly virus, to contribute something to solving overpopulation,” he had said.
The quote is reportedly from a 1988 interview that Prince Philip gave to the news agency Deutsche Press-Agentur and after his death was announced by Buckingham Palace, many took to Twitter with screenshots of the Duke’s comments and expressed their disbelief.
Many have also defended the Prince’s controversial comments as simply blunt humour or rather, him being a product of his colonial past.
Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh, was laid to rest following a funeral service at St George's Chapel in Windsor Castle, attended by close friends and families on Saturday, April 17, 2021.

I'm white, and like so many white people I know We don't look at color or race.. The media and press may think we do, but we don't. That I can assure everyone reading this.
Are there some that see color, or race? Of course, but that is such a small percentage of people. About the same amount of non whites that see whites as racist,
White, black, Asian, Hispanic or whatever anyone is. People are judged by actions, not by their color or nationally. This is true for a vast majority of whites all over the world. White Americans or Europeans are no better or worse than anyone else. Every race and nationally have faults, but please, we are all neighbors, friends and family.
Don't let the news and media divide us. It's time to just stop listening to those who want to divide and start judging each person Individually not as a group or nationality.
Have we really decided to group me, my family and my friends with the small minority of people across the world that are just out of touch? Again, not just white people, but the small minority of all races that need to step back and STFU , including the news media that seeks to divide
People just need to be kind and respect each other-
I feel sorry for both.
People are who they are. People are product of their conditioning, environment, teachings, reinforce beliefs and customs. Some live who they are. Others pretend to life something that they are not. Eventuality the truth oozes out, ie, in the backroom among like thinkers, a relax setting.......etc. For example, I had a co-worker that muse that sometimes the N-Word slips out. Don’t know if he were talking about the African country Niger or the N-Work.
People can change but for the right reason. Some pretend to change for personal and situational reasons, not genuine to the bone reason. These are flash in the pan changes. The true person eventually comes to the fore. If change in race relations are to be a reality, the White privilege belief, attitude, behaviour.......etc must be canned.
Did he help the oppressed, or did he live large and find perverse pleasure in insulting people? These are questions his spirit will need to answer on the other side. His spirit cannot hide or find rest in the grave (Ecclesiastes 12:7)
