Mr Parsons, who was appointed Director on February 17, 2020, is on secondment from the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) where he has worked for many years.
The new director is also well known in the local music industry and is a 2-time Soca Monarch.

In a statement during the continuation of the Fifth Sitting of the Second Session of the Fourth House of Assembly (HoA) of the Virgin Islands today, Tuesday, February 25, 2020, Honourable Rymer informed that Mr Parsons is mandated by law to implement the decisions of the Board, assist the police in conducting background investigations on all persons applying for a taxi permit, conduct Administrative Hearings for the purpose of making determinations of customers’ complaints, manage the Commission’s Secretariat, be the accounting officer for the Commission, develop and implement internal policies and procedures needed for the function of the Commission, represent the Commission on government committees and at other meetings, and prepare annual reports on the functions of the Commission and the status of services in the industry.
Number of complaints filed against taxi operators
Meanwhile, Hon Rymer told the House that a number of complaints against taxi operators have been received and the Commission, led by Mr Parsons, will be addressing some of them this week.
Hon Rymer also informed the industry that the Taxi and Livery Inspectors will be armed with the Taxi and Livery Ticket book effective April 2, 2020.
This he said will enable them as Inspectors to be more effective in inspecting and regulating the industry subject to the Taxi and Livery Commission Regulations.
