‘I am grateful for the experience’- Miss True Blue Beauty
Miss Sharpe won the pageant at the John E. St. Luce Finance and Conference Centre in Antigua on October 25, 2024. The pageant was held under the theme ‘United We Serve’ on Friday, October 25, 2024.
Upon her return to the Virgin Islands (VI) on October 27, 2024, before joining a motorcade in her honour, she told Cathy O Richards of JTV Channel 55 that while the experience was tough she is grateful for it.
Miss Sharpe was among six contestants representing police forces across the region and took part in three rounds, personal introduction, talent and evening gown segment.
The other contestants were Neddia Bromley representing the Royal Cayman Islands Police Service, Sabrina Mangal representing the Royal St Lucia Police Force, Regine Clement representing the Trinidad and Tobago Municipal Police Service, Shania Samuel representing the Royal Antigua and Barbuda Police Force, and Nickesha Lewis representing the Guyana Police Force.
Surprised by results
Constable Sharpe won the awards for Miss Congeniality and Best Evening Wear. She tied with Miss Guyana for Best on Stage Introduction and Beauty with a Purpose.
“I was surprised [at the results] because working together we all saw our strengths and we all believed in each other and what we were capable of. I had someone in mind, so I was surprised...definitely a lot of surprises and I am grateful for the experience.”
Miss Sharpe, who was coronated as Miss RVIPF in July 2024, added, “It has been a journey and honestly to all the women in pageantry, hats off to you girls.”
Pageantry she explained is not as easy as it looks. “We see the end results, the glitz and the glamour but in the background, the hard work, the sleepless nights, missing meals, having to rush to eat meals, it’s a lot.”
Talent & work experience combined
For her talent, she performed a drama piece sharing the message of respecting the police and encouraging parents to speak to their children telling them to do what is right and not to encourage them to do wrong.
For her, this piece was personal as she is attached to the Family and Juvenile Unit in her capacity as a Woman Detective Constable with the RVIPF.
“I work with a lot of children on a daily basis, some are victims, some are offenders, unfortunately, and that’s some of the issues that we have, parents not talking to their children, encouraging them when they are on the wrong side of the law so it was good to just reinforce that message in that moment, it was the perfect opportunity to just get that message across to our parents.”
As it relates to her future reign, Miss True Blue Beauty Tresan R. Sharpe said she has a big role to fill, adding that she is excited. “You will see me, trust me, I am not going to go dormant, you will hear about me for sure.”
The Pageant Committee of the CFPWA is under the Chairmanship of Virgin Islands' own Sergeant Sean A. McCall who is also President of the Royal Virgin Islands Police Welfare Association. Sergeant McCall is also the President of the CFPWA.
