Hon Kye M. Rymer is Acting Premier & Minister of Finance

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- Minister for Communications and Works Hon Kye M. Rymer (R5) is the man temporarily steering the ship of the Virgin Islands, as both Premier and Minister of Finance Dr the Hon Natalio D. Wheatley (R7) and the Deputy Premier, Hon Lorna G. Smith, OBE (AL), are on duty travel.

Honourable Rymer is acting as Premier and Minister of Finance from September 7 to September 14, 2024.

Honourable Rymer's appointment is in accordance with the Virgin Islands Constitution Order, 2007, Section 55 (2), which states, “If both the Premier and the Deputy Premier are expected to be absent from the Virgin Islands for more than forty-eight hours, the Governor shall authorise another Minister designated by the Premier to perform the functions of the office of Premier; and the Governor shall revoke this authority on the return to the Virgin Islands of either the Premier or the Deputy Premier.”

High-level bilateral meetings in UK

Premier Wheatley is currently leading a delegation to the United Kingdom. The delegation includes the Deputy Premier as well as Opposition Leader Hon Ronnie W. Skelton (AL).

The delegation will attend high-level bilateral meetings with the new Government of the United Kingdom.

Premier Wheatley is expected to petition UK Overseas Territories Minister Stephen J. Doughty, MP to remove the controversial Order in Council to suspend the VI Constitution.

    Hon. Rymer, is the Minister responsible for the largest Ministry. There are many priorities, but he is dedicated to getting all projects done, and is very hard-working. He is also a people's man; one who is easily accessible, and doesn't just talk about his.people - he shows just how much he cares in so many tangible ways. Don't mind the noise. Keep on depending on The Master. In Him is Victory!

    Kye is going to wait again til you complain of bad roads and say sowandie won't give him the money because a party is up and that takes money meh son, even though he gets at the financial lever to just fix the road.
