BAUGHERS BAY, Tortola, VI - Social Commentator and ZBVI 780 AM 'Honestly Speaking' radio host, Mr Claude O. Skelton-Cline has called a 'bombshell', the actions of veteran politician and Third District Representative, Hon Julian Fraser, RA to move a motion to reprimand a sitting Governor in the Territory.

Hon Fraser, during the Thursday, May 28, 2020, sitting of the House of Assembly (HoA), moved a motion against His Excellency, Augustus J. U. Jaspert to reprimand him for the handling of the BVI Airways audit report prepared by the Auditor General.

The Third District Representative said the report reached the House "A full month and one day past the statutory deadline," which, according to Mr Fraser, was due to the Governor exhibiting a 'cavalier attitude' towards the HoA after receiving the report and holding it since February 7, 2020.

Historical - Skelton-Cline

According to Skelton-Cline, "We've had some Governors recalled and we have had some run out of town but I am not aware of in History where the House of Assembly was considering motions that currently sits before it... in regards to a motion to reprimand the sitting Governor."

"This is tantamount to a bombshell that was dropped in the House of Assembly," Skelton-Cline noted while questioning the credentials of Mr Jaspert.

Hon Fraser said the actions of the Government seemed to have been a pattern and that it needs to stop.

Motion seconded by Hon Turnbull

The Motion moved by Hon Fraser was seconded by Second District Representative, Hon Melvin M. Turnbull (R2) ahead of the House moving into recess until Wednesday, June 3, 2020, at 2:00 pm.

Mr Skelton-Cline also noted, "The governor is being seen and heard in too many instances that concerns itself with local politics and the Governor has no business in the local politics of this country.

Thanks for explaining it as a "bombshell". It is indeed. Here is the thing, the shell is empty. There will be no explosion.
"Questioning the credentials of Mr. Jasper?"

Hon Julian “Liberator” Fraser, RA ,(R3) and senior opposition member, may have made a bold, unprecedented move and the HOA may pass a motion to reprimand Governor AJU Jaspert. However, don’t expect the UK/FCO to officially reprimand the Guv, for birds of a feather fly together. True, the Guv tries to wade too far out into local politics. He is media w...e that seems to like the spot light, microphone and camera. Moreover, despite his denial, it seems like he does not miss an opportunity to rake the sitting government over the coals. To me, the Guv is young compared to other Guvs and seems like he trying to punch his ticket up the career ladder at the VI and its people expense. The VI was out negotiated on the BVI Airways fiasco agreement and was out negotiated in the constitutional review, leaving the Guv with too much power. The Premier needs to call a constitutional review soonest.

There is more discrimination / apartheid type behaviour from US and European expats living here and it's disappointing to see idiots constantly attacking "island people." You make us all look stupid and ignorant as we all from the islands - Tortola being one of the smallest. Stop fighting the wrong war. You people who think and speak like that can't possibly have any ambition or own anything because your focus is ignorant sh%t instead of your own business. We are slaves in the Caribbean...still working on plantations owned by white expats and so called black society people. Stop with the divided BS. It's time to put all that nonsense behind us.

Worst Governor we’ve had. Get rid of him ASAP. Investigate him and his racist office. How come not even acknowledged George Floyd murder? They agree with it?!

Sounds like a crook of s#¡¥ to me. How the Governor held on to the report when the office of the Auditor General is a government agency. If there was a true interest in the report someone would have gotten a copy the same time as the Governor?
