HireBVI to host drive thru 'Back to School Distribution' exercise
HireBVI, in a press release today, August 10, 2020, said it will distribute hundreds of bags filled with school supplies.
Considering the impacts that COVID-19 has had on the Territory thus far, this year's event will be hosted differently, recognising all necessary safety and sanitary protocols.
Participants interested in receiving school supplies are required to register their interest at the HireBVI office (Tortola Pier Park) from August 10, 2020, from 9:00am to 1:00pm, while supplies last. Distribution will take place on August 29, 2020, in the form of a Drive Thru on the Althea Scatliffe School grounds which will commence promptly at 4:00pm.
Only registered participants will receive school supplies. Registration is free.
'The future is now'
The Back to School drive, under the theme, “The Future is Now” will feature guest appearances by elementary-aged entrepreneurs. Participants are encouraged to support these budding entrepreneurs by purchasing their products.
Finally, HireBVI will also host a raffle to which two lucky winners will walk away with an Apple iPad or Apple Watch, drawing date will be September 4, 2020.
Rekeema S. Turnbull, Managing Director, noted: “We are fully aware, as the local employment agency that the employment of many parents have been affected by COVID-19. Our company therefore, decided that we could not allow COVID-19 to take full control. The unfortunate truth is that COVID-19 is not going anywhere anytime soon, so we have to find ways to live with it. As such we took on the corporate responsibility to provide aid accordingly and trust that many will benefit from this kind gesture. We also would like to give recognition to our sponsors, namely Island Services, Let's Fuze VI, National Bank of the Virgin Islands and Aeropost."
