Female taxi driver hurls abuses & threats in front of tourists on VG
The matter has since reached the attention of the BVI Tourist Board (BVITB), who has asked the Taxi and Livery Commission to address.
Captured on video
It is not exactly clear what started the confrontation but a video, which has been shared on social media, and sent to our news room, carries audio of a female making threats to the person recording the video and repeatedly using indecent language.
More than one person could be heard telling the woman to stop because her bahaviour was looking bad. “You don’t mess with me….I would put a rock in you M***Sk***…you don’t come and take no picture of me, you here what I say?” the woman, who is said to be a female taxi driver originally from St Kitts, is heard saying.
The person holding the camera then tells her there are children around and she should stop. “Is you I dealing with. I will F**** you up you know. You ain’t know %$&* me,” the irate woman responded.
“Stop it, behave yourself, I not pointing anything at you,” the man repeatedly said.
The 3-minute video sent to our newsroom at no point shows the camera purposely aimed at the woman.
The infuriated woman; however, repeatedly dares the man to focus the camera on her.
“I would mash you Mu****Sk*** up today, stop @#$%&9 around me. Don’t point no camera at me. You is a lil &*^$ pu$*y.”
At one point a female tells the raging female taxi driver that she can’t be behaving that way in front of children and her guests.
“Hello miss, I have nothing to do with you and Ice Willy. Tell he don’t point he camera at me.”
“But you cannot cuss in front of guests darling, sorry,” the woman is heard saying.
The female taxi driver; however, tells the woman she is only getting involved because Mr Penn was there.
At that point the guests start to board a taxi and the video ends.
‘Most unprofessional’
Virgin Islands News Online understands that the tourists who had to endure the woman’s vulgar outburst were guests of a yacht charter on Virgin Gorda. The yacht charter had contracted the services of Sweet Ice Willy taxi service to transport its guests to The Baths.
The charter has since written to the Virgin Gorda Yacht Harbour on the incident, asking for the management of the harbour to resolve the issue.
In the email to the Virgin Gorda Yacht Harbour, which has been seen by our newsroom, the charter confirmed it had contacted the owner of Sweet Ice Willy taxi service, Mr William A. Penn, to take its guests to The Baths. It also said it has been using Mr Penn's taxi service for the past 5 years.
“The following actions were probably the most unprofessional I have ever seen on VG. A woman with a different taxi company started cussing and screaming at Ice Willy. Then she picked up a huge rock and threatened to hit him and his taxi.
“All of this in front of my guests- four of which were children,” the charter company wrote.
‘Jealousy’
Meanwhile, efforts to reach the woman in the video were unsuccessful; however, owner of Sweet Ice Willy taxi service, Mr William A. Penn was contacted on the ordeal.
Mr Penn said he was called to collect some tourists at the Virgin Gorda Yacht Harbour to transport to The Baths and had proceeded to do so when he was met with abuse from the female taxi driver.
“She stay from the taxi stand and bawling out to the people ‘do not go with he, do not go with he, he is a thief, he is a convict, he been in jail. I am going to tell all the guests them so…’”
Mr Penn said he then asked a fellow taxi driver to record the woman’s behaviour since it was reportedly not the first time she was engaging in such a disgraceful way.
“It happened before. So he took out the phone and had it by his side taping everything. He didn’t point it at her, just taping it at the side. She took up a big rock, coming towards my taxi and hurling threats.
Although not heard in the video, Mr Penn claimed that at one point one of the tourists, a male, cautioned the woman to check her language since his children were there; however, the male tourist was also allegedly met with indecent language.
Shaken guests
Mr Penn said his guests were scheduled to visit The Baths but after the ordeal they were so upset and frightened that they were reluctant to go. “That was so embarrassing, embarrassing to our little sweet BVI where we depend on tourism. If people don’t come we can’t make no money. It’s really bad.”
Penn believes he was targeted in such an obscene manner because of jealousy. “She can’t be like me. She on a different level and that is what hurting them,” he posited, noting that he maintains a good relationship with his guests and his popularity has grown over the years because of his professionalism and hospitality efforts.
It was also noted that the Manager of the Virgin Gorda Yacht Harbour, security personnel of the harbour and police came to the scene; however, the woman refused to be calmed down.
“This is our country. We can’t have these kinds of things going on, in front of our guests. This is has to stop right away. This is out of order and the whole world is seeing this.”
BVITB refers matter to Taxi & Livery Commission
Mr Penn said he made a report to the police on the matter; however, on January 2, 2019 the Royal Virgin Island Police Force (RVIPF) said it had no written report of the matter and no arrests or charges were made.
“At the moment there is no such report,” Police Information Officer, Akia L. Thomas told Virgin Islands News Online.
And with the incident casting a poor image on the Territory as a tourism destination, contact was made with the BVI Tourist Board (BVITB) to see if it was aware of the matter and what actions it was taking.
“We are aware of the taxi challenges and have referred the matter to The Taxi Commission for follow up and handling,” Director of Tourism Sharon P. Flax-Brutus briefly stated on January 2, 2020.

But this is not about English grammar, it is about someone who evidently found it necessary to be rude to outsiders, apparently feeling slighted for some reason.
Tola people dont even speak like that. Its a set of foreigners repeating this online. Exactly how people sound when they try imitating a jamacian accent. Its fake and sounds fake.
How about this "go home!"
Further more its a set of foreigners interacting with tourist giving the place a bad vibe. Keepin it real.
I recently witnessed her and a security officer at the same marina trying to take guests to her taxi when Mr. C***e aka T***s was already taking the guests to his taxi. She began to shout at Toots infront of the guests claiming that he is not to take the guests and to removed his taxi from the yard. The security officer, A**** (from Grenada), immediately became taxi dispatcher, as T***s called her and argued that P***y is taking the guests and that T*** should calm down. P***y and this security officer has been running down guests and it needs to stop. This is very heartbreaking and embarrassing to our vg community. The state of the marina is already deplorable. Why can’t the attitudes of the workers be more inviting and everyone do what needs to be done to ensure the safety of everyone involved?
Only who knows knows! P***y was no where close or dealing with guest, H***Y B who is a not even a taxi driver or anyone that deals with our tourist along with T****g I** W**** concocted this whole thing and the poor lady had no idea. H***y B went up to her pointing his camera and provoked the hell out of her, I was there watching. I** W***** brought up some guest from out the Marina. At the end of the so call video tape you can hear both of them stating "turn it off we have enough on her" That goes to show how they literally set her up! I hope the taxi Commissioner steps in and stops all the madness from taking place in VG. It got who up there taxi-ing out of private vehicles and rentals and those who selling the guest weed. P*** is a hot mouth but a great person especially with guest! Hold your head up P***! Oh and they need GET RID OF HEAVY B!!!!
Defend all you want but that’s bullsh*t!
I** W**** them out of the kill!
Kiss yall yellow belly r***
Secondly, yes the taxi driver was in the wrong for her behavior but it’s obvious something caused her reaction.
Thirdly, Heavy B is not a taxi driver nor does he have any right to be chasing down tourists to give his 'partner in crime' some business. He should find other things to do with his life, after all he is a grown ass man taking up some serious space and causing trouble.
Fourthly, it’s obvious that this was a set up because at the end of the video the poppyshow has more than enough to say proving that it was a set up.
All in all, this situation shouldn’t have happened and it could have been dealt with correctly however things should be done to prevent something like this from ever happening again.
*and for the people who don’t know the full stories, please don’t comment about it because your assumptions/opinions make you look like quite the fool.*
To all who making comments here and don't know the hold story of what happened just saying what they want. Some of you out there saying things . But the same taxi driver s***** i** W***** do a lot of sh*t himself. Running down the dock behind the tourist. Will just come to the marina and will take away the tourist from who other drivers that was there before him. Don't even talk about H****B . But there is a God and when the time comes everybody will know. H**** B and s**** i*** W***** put the video out there. It not only damage the female taxi driver only but also the whole taxi services. But time is longer than twine.
How you all get this one?
I witnessed this lady cussed toots the taxi man out at the ports dock in vg. She used almost every bad word you could fine. Toots was the calmest under such insults, he never answered a word. The place was loaded with tourist and local. So this isnt new. She needs to be address urgently!!
Behave yourselves. It's easy to get into trouble but hard to get out. Stop and think in the heat of the moment.
The article stated that the police have no record of the incident which I find that there are many incidents that are not recorded when one makes a report. How can this be I often wonder. If a person or persons comes and makes a report as simple as it sounds it should be recorded. I guess the reporters have to go in the station on the government computer and enter it for them selves. What a cross we have here in this territory. We prefer to let things escalate than we get active then tell the court there is no report in the system. Case closed. What a thing.
