ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – Ex-Commissioner of Police, Mr Micheal B. Matthews has been re-appointed as a board member of the BVI Ports Authority, having served previously on the board since retiring as Top Cop.

According to the statement of the Cabinet Meeting of October 18, 2023, the decision was made at the meeting, which was chaired by His Excellency, the Governor John J. Rankin, CMG, and held at the Premier's Conference Room.

All Members were present, with the exception of the Attorney General Dawn J. Smith, who was overseas on official business and as such, Solicitor General Mrs. Jo-Ann Williams-Roberts attended as the acting Attorney General.

According to the statements, Cabinet “Noted the expiration of Mr. Michael Matthews's appointment as BVI Ports Authority Board Member on 28th August, 2023; approved Mr. Matthews’ re-appointment as Board Member for two (2) years effective 15th September, 2023 until 14th September, 2025 by Section 1(1)(b) of the First Schedule of the BVI Ports Authority Act, 1990;" the Cabinet statement detailed.

Mr Matthews to earn $900 stipend

The statement also noted that the member [Mr Matthews] will be paid $900.00 per month or, if re-appointed as Deputy Chair, fifteen hundred dollars ($1,500.00) per month and it was also decided that the Ministry of Communications and Works instructed the Attorney General's Chambers to prepare the Instrument of Appointment.

Mr Matthews, who has since settled in the Virgin Islands is also on the Board of the BVI Red Cross, which means he now sits on two boards since exiting the Top Cop post.

Matthews was voted to the Board of the BVI Red Cross when the organization held its annual general meeting on June 19, 2023.

We have no doubt he is a spy. This is how the Brits work. Your question on his immigration status is valid. We need to know this as to whether he is a belonger or not. These things should not be allowed to slide by.

Stop fooling yourself. The UK Imperialists have always been about expansion, power, and control, especially in strategic locations in the Caribbean. Read about their history of securing their ill-gotten gains (yes- including the white snow) on their routes to their target destinations. Where do think the position of governor originated.
