European Parliament wants VI back on EU tax haven blacklist
A report from The Guardian says the move has come at a time when the VI is now “under the microscope after allegations of widespread political corruption, misuse of taxpayers’ money and a climate of fear,” as suggested by outgoing Governor, H.E. Augustus J.U. Jaspert in his January 18, 2021, calls for a Commission of Inquiry (CoI) into the Government of Premier Andrew A. Fahie (R1).
Earlier in the week, a resolution was passed in the European Parliament by a vote of 587 to 50, showing overwhelming support to add more OTs like the VI, Cayman Islands, Guernsey and Jersey to the blacklist over the territories being regarded as havens for tax avoidance.
This vote included measures calling for the automatic inclusion on the blacklist of countries which use a 0 per cent tax regime, among these are the UK overseas territories.
UK benefit as EU member ends with BREXIT conclusion
Before BREXIT, the UK had lobbied to protect its overseas territories from past scrutiny since countries linked to EU member states have generally avoided inclusion.
After the vote, any decision to expand the blacklist would rest with the 27 member states on the EU’s Economic and Financial Affairs Council.
The vote on the resolution specifically mentioned the conclusion of the Brexit deal, saying that Britain’s OTs should now be screened for potential inclusion on the list.
Following the announcement of the CoI, Premier Fahie had remarked that the territory's international repetition was now severed as a result of the damaging accusations of Governor Jaspert, based on rumours.

Maybe we can send one of our retired Judges to conduct the Inquiry.
So since a cocaine bust is corruption. I agree the UK is corrupt. Such hiprocrosy.
The announcement overseas by the Goovernor was tactical and the COI a diversion the the UK real intention. The Governor was stuttering to answer the question of the reputational risk the financial service industry because he know the outcome because that is what the UK wanted.
Do some research into what the UK wants with the the BVI to do with the Registers and maybe you will undertand more and stop being distracted.
A COI could have happen with damaging the repration of the BVI in terms of financial services
THe Governor talking crap about this will strenghten the fiancail servces. Their agenda is coming to light. But we are still blinded by the distraction. I hope people understand the impact of being blacklisted.
This was done before the COI was even announced
