Toussaint, 34, of Belvedere, Canaries, appeared in the Magistrate’s Court in Castries on Monday, May 25, and was remanded until June 30 when he will make his next court appearance.

St Omer, 24, of Au Tabor, Anse La Raye, was found unresponsive in the driver’s seat of a vehicle when officers from the Marigot Police Station and the Major Crimes Unit responded to a reported shooting in Marigot, Castries, at 7:10 p.m. The mother of one was subsequently pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said while there, officers received information that Toussaint, St Omer’s estranged husband, had presented himself at the Criminal Investigations Department, accompanied by his lawyer. He was arrested on suspicion of murder and taken into custody at the Centralised Community Safety Centre.

In an earlier press release announcing that Toussaint had turned himself in, police said that at the time of the shooting, a protection order had been filed against him in relation to St Omer.
