ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – Community leader and Pastor of the New Life Baptist Church in Duff’s Bottom, Tortola, Bishop John I. Cline says the UK will face ‘stiff resistance’ should they try to take over the territory after the conclusion of the Virgin Islands (VI) Commission of Inquiry.

Bishop Cline made the statements during the Tuesday, April 27, 2021, edition of the My BVI alongside co-host Angelle A. Cameronshow, streamed live on Facebook.

No to colonialism

“We have clearly stated that we do not wish to even go back to what looks like a hint of colonialism [or] pseudo colonialism or you come in under the name of good governance and say you are taking over.”

He said any attempt by the UK to take over, would be seen as colonial masters raising their hands again and finding a loophole to do that.

“We as a people a proud people, people of dignity and strength, hardworking people who have built this country over the years our four fathers have bought, they March… standing up for this and then to get to this place?” he questioned.

The place according to Bishop Cline, a state of affairs where the UK takes over the territory or any attempts to do so under the guise of good governance.

Stiff Resistance

“For you to come in and say you ready to take over, the UK must know they are going to meet with some stiff resistance,” he said.

As uncertainty looms over the outcome of the ongoing controversial UK-funded CoI called by embattled ex-Governor Augustus J.U. Jaspert, political pundits have warned that the UK Government would try to justify the huge cost of the CoI to UK taxpayers.

Bishop Cline reiterated, “We must say to them you will meet with stiff resistance,” should the outcome lead to neocolonialism.

He said if the UK comes to the VI with any extreme outcomes, it must be a plan that they would suggest a way forward and one that does not look like colonialism.

Tells the folks that reaping the benefits to stop acting like corruption doesn't exist, cause if push comes to shove, the blood in the streets might be your own.

There are intellectual and legal ways to fight against them. If you don't understand the concept you need not reply.

No sir I speak for down island people. Either sir you are not one of us and I sincerely believe so. Or you haven't yet grasp the reality of where you are. The caribbean brothers came here in abundance after irma, gave of their service, rebuilt the place and then we're reminded that they int from hey. If you believe that you are one of them and that they will fight for you then keep on dreaming. Hoping that if any uprising God forbid, the put you front and center. Only goes to show that as backwards as they are they still have more sense than you. It is really extremely difficult to believe that when your mother push you happen to come out down island. If I was you parents I would disown you. We're there condoms in those days.

"Stiff resistance"??? "colonialism" ???? What the heck are you talking about my friend? We're already colonized, just look at where the power resides - in the hands of THEIR govenor, THEIR police chief and other less conspicuous representatives.
What is noteworthy is that the most noise is coming from those whose gravy train stands to be derailed. There's much more to be concerned about, much more to preach about like: youth training programs, mental health care, entrepreneurship, water availability, waste disposal just to name a few.....

I am really tired of hearing you folks talk about your fore fathers. Who were the first settlers on the islands. They weren't your fore fathers. If your fire fathers had vision they would have developed the islands for their people. You all built on land belonging to great Briton. Developed land belonging to great Briton. We are the owners of the land. You can not now tell us that we have no say or control on what happen to our land. The down island leaders had vision. Trinidad, Barbados, st Vincent, Granada, st Lucia Jamaica, these leaders had vision, they paid for their land through independence. Architects of their destiny. You want to live on your parents land, hold on to their aprons, but dont want to be told what to do. Utter and embicilical rubbish. We can take our land back tomorrow. What documents do you have to show that you own the land. As a matter of fact all you land owners that have land. Who did you buy it from. Not from the owners. All the land in the bvi belong to the queen. Had you all been born down island you all would have had sense. Your head is not only meant to wear a cap. 2021 and you still dont own squat. Smdh

Er... the first settlers were not from Great "Briton". You are missing a few steps and the blood of the people who died along the way.
"paid for their land through independence"...? Perhaps we should have been in debt for centuries like Haiti who certainly paid through the nose to France for her independence. Would love to see your copies of the cheques that Jamaica and St Lucia etc wrote...

Unfortunately, the Post has some truth to it. In the Past, Land was considered Crown Land and if you inherited word of mouth, One would have to submit request to Queen to obtain said Title or Deed to that Piece of Land.

In my opinion, Global Britain's agenda is to bring all the British Territories under one nationality/Citizenship with the United Kingdom. Similar to France and United States and their territories. This would mean free movement where ever the Union Jack fly. The only thing preventing that now is "Belongship" which is a status that most of their overseas Territories has to be able to vote and live with out Immigration control.
