ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI - Attorney Richard G. Rowe of Silk Legal has pointed out the inability of the VI Commission of Inquiry (CoI) to address the failures of the Ex-Governor, Augustus J.U. Jaspert, to control crime and the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) under former Police Commissioner, Michael B. Matthews.

Speaking on the May 4, 2021, edition of the Honestly Speaking show, Attorney Rowe said the RVIPF, as well as its failure to address crime, falls directly under the preview of the Governor as written in the constitution, yet the CoI has not addressed it.

Crime was under the Purview of the Gov - Attorney Rowe

In a letter seen by Virgin Islands News Online (VINO) sent to Premier Fahie on April 9, 2021, by UK MP and Secretary of State for Foreign Commonwealth and Development Affairs Dominic R. Raab, he pointed to some successes of the police force in intercepting and seizing drugs as a factor preventing the assent of the Drugs (Prevention and Misuse) Amendment Act 2020.

“I am concerned by the scale and frequency of such events, and was particularly worried by the arrest of serving police officers in connection with the seizures,” he said, noting that he is awaiting the CoI to decide on the bill hold-up, which is actually against the constitution of the VI.

According to Attorney Rowe, crime and the illicit drugs trade were under the purview of the Governor and the CoI should have investigated his failures.

“This Commission of Inquiry, if it were properly exercised in an open way, should itself inquire into the failings of the Governor in controlling crime and the police force which falls directly under his control, but we’re not hearing that,” he said.

UK looking to rebuild their empire

Given the situation, Rowe said he believes the long-term intent of the British in rebuilding their empire is to have a situation for the VI to be like Martinique and Guadeloupe to France.

“So every Englishman should be able to come into the territory, no matter how many billions he has, and buy out the lands from the people, place us in a position like Bermuda,” he said.

If that is the case, he said the native Virgin Islanders will then be pressured by the wealth of outsiders, only to become servants again.

Richard G. Rowe, Who asks for your opinion, did someone retain you for This Commission of Inquiry? Or are you just working for free? It seems like the government could have saved a lot by retaining you instead of the lawyer from the UK.

The governor did what he came to the BVI to do, Andrew A. Fahie asks for this Commission of Inquiry I would think he would be happy that the UK is finally doing it. If he has nothing to worry about he should just let it carry on without all the fuss. Richard G. Rowe you need to crawl back under whatever rock you crawl out from.

I very much doubt the UK has any interest, or ability, to reconstitute the British Empire, for starters. Regardless of that, all these VINO articles, including the opinion of Mr. Rowe, are classic "what about-ism", the purpose of which is to distract from the questions at hand. I think that an objective poll would find that Governor Jaspert had the thanks of many, for his work here, but even if he did not, whatever his personal behaviour may have been, it has nothing to do with this inquiry, which concerns the acts of the BVI Government. So enough with all this finger pointing and let's get on with the enquiry. I actually think that most people would prefer that it finds nothing and that the BVI gets a clean bill of health, financially. Whether this actually happens, remains to be seen, but in the meantime, those who yell loudest appreat to be those most threatened with discovery of their malfeasance.

The Governor was under control when the biggest drug bust on UK soil was captured. FACT.
This Governor was under controlled caught and arrested the corrupt cops in the police force. FACT.
This Governor uprooted the Major drug trafficking in the BVI. FACT.

I think this is a pretty good track record. Its been underground for years and brought to the surface under the last Governor and we criticise him for doing a bad job. I think a revaluation of your idea of Law and Order needs to be looked at.

Finally someone who is pointing fingers in the right direction. Some people blame the VI for not seeking help after "Irma" and not doing enough about the drugs coming into the territory and the rash of crime engulfing the territory. The truth is that all of those are under the UK's portfolio and not the Government.

Not many of you are able to comprehend what is really taking place. It's called the Totalitarian Tip Toe and this program is designed for the world its not just BVI. The United Nations Agenda 21 is a depopulation program that is being orchestrated via the Hegelian Dialectic of problem reaction solution. The Corona virus has been created as the problem the world's reaction is to find a solution so here comes the vaccine. This pandemic presents the perfect scenario for Agenda 21 to be carried out as a terrified population now is willing to surrender their human rights for what is being touted as a solution. In order for the ( Yes we're different ) Virgin Islands to be forced into the program a Commission of Inquiry has been strategically put in place to render the local government powerless and have the UK dictate what and how things must be done. At the end of the day we would have lost all freedom and property with the locals back in servitude. Don't take my word for it watch it play out as we speak. We brought it upon ourselves because when the Watchman was sounding the trumpet we were busy devising ways to kill him.
