ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- Five charities in the [British] Virgin Islands have benefitted from the kindness of offshore law firm Carey Olsen (BVI).

Last week the law firm donated an undisclosed sum of money to Adina Donovan Home For The Elderly, BVI Diabetes Association, BVI Humane Society, Eslyn Henley Richiez Learning Centre, and M.A.L.E.

According to Carey Olsen, at the end of 2023, instead of making traditional gifts to its business clients, the firm opted to make donations to five remarkable local charities chosen by its staff from a wide-ranging list of diverse charitable causes.

Office Manager of Carey Olsen (BVI) L.P, Judy-Ann A. Wade told Virgin Islands News Online the donations totalled $12,400.00.

Charities were voted on by staff

“Our clients and staff were then asked to vote for the charity they wanted to receive a donation. The votes were then counted and determined the total amount of the donation each charity was to receive,” Carey Olsen stated in a press release.

According to the law firm, the Partners and staff at Carey Olsen (BVI) L.P. hope that this gesture will help to continue the valuable work in the VI Community that these organisations continue to do.

Good corporate citizen!

It further said these donations sit alongside the firm's annual and ongoing commitments and support to other important VI charities and institutions such as the Jost van Dyke Primary School, VISAR, CIBC Walk for the Cure and PAW.

Carey Olsen said it is dedicated to building long-term relationships with its employees, clients, and the wider communities.

Carey Olsen is the highest-ranking offshore law firm in Chambers UK 2024, having achieved 10 out of a possible 12 Band 1 rankings. The firm also has 20 tier 1 rankings in Legal500 UK, more than any other offshore firm.

They do but they don't advertise it. Just quietly do their community / charity work and donations without the need to publicize it for a pat on the back.

While I must commend for the donations, a law firm tends to make hundreds of millions annually, in this territory, if not globally!

Twelve grand, to me, is a paltry sum!

I think fifty grand, would have been commensurate ,with the amounts of monies, this firm makes on an annual basis here!!!

    Perhaps, I'm considered ungrateful.

.But Twelve grand, from a globally functioning law form?

    Naaaahhhhh!

Stop insulting the intelligence of our people!

Ausar, for one, WILL NOT BE FOOLED!
