LOWER ESTATE, Tortola, VI- The plan of a person or persons to smuggle Cannabis via courier service FedEx was foiled by law enforcement authorities recently.

According to reports reaching our newsroom, a quantity of the controlled drug was recovered at the FedEx location in Lower Estate, Tortola following an operation led by Her Majesty’s Customs on March 5, 2021.

During the operation, a “suspicious brown FedEx box” was found to be emitting a stench of suspected Cannabis.

Sources said upon opening the box, a large round object wrapped in several layers of saran wrap and foiling paper was discovered.

When the object was unwrapped, it was allegedly discovered to contain 12 transparent vacuum sealed packages all containing green vegetable matter suspected to be Cannabis.

The Cannabis was subsequently weighed and found to be 5,480grams.

It is unclear if anyone has since been arrested.

This is the third time if not more that drugs were found in a FedEx package and you mean they still risking it.

How are these packages getting as far as the BVI without being intercepted at a previous point?

I know of Marijuana that goes from Tortola to Florida through FedEx all the time. Its just the person that sent this package didn't know what to do to keep the scent down.

If it was smelling that string that’s like 2500/lb. so y’all just lost 14k. If they sending that much abt 100 lbs came thru long time. If they check fedex records/cameras I’m sure they’ll find whom they’relooking for.

5480 grams of hempflower probably. Who knows where it came from, what may be sprayed on it or if the cannabis bill 2020 will be assented in 2021.

Am I missing something. I thought Fedex packages are suppose to have a sender and a receiver. And if it does not have that, I am sure fedex can figure out where the package originated from.

Although FedEx could tell where it originated from, the sender’s address may be a fake address.

The recipient address may be fake too and could have been intended for an inside collection but it got nabbed before getting in someone’s hands.

Both sender and recipient can use fake names and fake addresses. They also uses burner phones and they would tell FedEx to call upon delivering the package. Reasons fir that so they can be at the address and its not hard to make a fake ID. I watched a show called to catch a smuggler and there was a package sent from the virgin Islands they didn't say what Island. The package was a cake but inside the cake was 2 kilos of cocaine. It went through Miami Airport where it was caught they then set up to deliver it and it did. That person took it to the post office and sent it priority to Atlanta. The package got delivered the guy then git in his car and was taking it to whom it belongs to and they arrested him. Lots of drugs are sent through the mail and it will continue forever. They were just lucky in catching that one.

What about sender's and receiver's address? Do they not exist? I mean I'm pretty sure that's one of the reason's they have sender's and receiver's address.
