4 charged for breaking curfew on Day 1 of mandatory 24-hour lockdown
The round-the-clock lockdown began at 8:00pm on Friday, March 27, 2020. The curfew will be lifted at 6:00am on Thursday, April 2, 2020.
According to the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF), all the charges occurred on the main island of Tortola, with two each at Road Town and East End respectively.
One of the men, known to Virgin Islands News online has having no fixed place of abode, was allegedly found along Main Street in possession of a brand new microwave.
Following questioning, the man reportedly led officers to a parked vehicle in a Road Town parking lot, where it was found that the man retrieved the item through a ‘plastic window’ of a car.
The other men charged included two VIslanders and a Jamaica national.
The RVIPF had made its first arrest of a resident for allegedly defying the mandated 8:00pm Territory-wide curfew which was in effect on Thursday, March 26, 2020, up until 6:00am Friday, March 27, 2020.
