HAVERS, Tortola, VI- Motorists and residents of the Palestina Estate and Havers communities have been calling for urgent action on a deplorable stretch of road from Palestina to Havers that was dug up months ago but remains unrepaired, even as other sections of the Sir Francis Drake Highway have been paved.

They will now be relieved to know that work on the said stretch of road has resumed and is expected to be completed in the coming weeks.

Work has resumed- Hon Rymer

“There was a delay on the small portion of the road due to matters beyond [the contractor’s] control, including weather elements; however, the work has resumed and the road will be paved soon,” Minister for Communications and Works Hon Kye M. Rymer (R5) told our News Centre today, Wednesday, September 9, 2026.

The unfinished road had become a point of contention for motorists, and critics were also questioning contractor supervision and project management.

    Is saying that try to make sure that the water that does be settling right there by the blue wall in the area of Palestina needs to be diverted towards the ocean and the same for Pockwood Pond area too. Because it is really frustrating to long now.

      It is obvious that only a top coat of asphalt has been placed on the road to reduce dust as ut is below the drainage level. You people in the 3rd too salty. SMH!

    What delay? Contractor assigned for that section had too much work going on elsewhere and spreading his resources thin. He waited forever to start his section

    At this rate, maybe by next year all our vehicles will be completely destroyed from driving on this road. ???? Then perhaps the government will provide everyone with a free vehicle—and increase bus services as an alternative means of transportation. ????????

    What a wonderful plan for the community! Ha ha! More than a month has passed, and the road is still waiting for its “grand repair.” Maybe the road needs a vacation too! ????
