Women's softball champs Synergy receives $3500 from CIBC

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- The reigning National Women’s Softball Champions, Synergy, has received financial support from CIBC Caribbean in the Virgin Islands (UK). The softball team has received $3,500.00.

The donation is part of the bank's commitment to empowering women in sports, a press release said on Friday, March 7, 2025. 

The presentation was made by Ms Vernecia Holder, Head of International Banking at CIBC Caribbean, to Ms Bria Smith, Captain of Synergy at the bank in Road Town on Thursday, March 6, 2025, in celebration of International Women's Day under the theme ‘Accelerating Action’. 

CIBC Caribbean proud to invest

Synergy has been undefeated for four consecutive years and the bank celebrated this milestone while highlighting its commitment to supporting women in sports and leadership.

The press release added that as the first major sponsor of Synergy in recent years, CIBC Caribbean is proud to invest in the continued success of these outstanding women. 

Ms Holder said, “We are thrilled to support Synergy, a team that exemplifies dedication, resilience, and excellence…At CIBC Caribbean, we are committed to fostering empowerment and providing resources that help individuals and teams achieve their full potential.”

Meanwhile, Ms Smith thanked the bank for its support on behalf of Synergy. “This generous sponsorship from CIBC Caribbean means a great deal to us. It not only helps us maintain our competitive edge but also reinforces the value of women in sports and leadership.”

Guided tour & informative session

The team was taken on a guided tour of the bank by Ms Tara K. Stoutt, Business Development Officer, following the presentation. They were introduced to the staff and provided insights into the bank’s operations. 

The tour concluded with an informative session led by Ms Valissa Graham, Business Banking Manager. She showcased CIBC Caribbean’s suite of digital banking products, demonstrating how the team members can leverage these tools to accelerate action toward their financial and personal goals.
