SEA COWS BAY, Tortola, VI- The former Speaker of the House of Assembly and businessman, Mr Julian Willock, along with his Third District Committee and Ms Kishma P. Forbes of Virgin Islands School and Office Supplies, is making a positive impact in the community once again.

This time, they have partnered with One Mart Superstore to donate 15 cases of bottled water to schools and families in the Sea Cows Bay area. Mr Willock stated, "On Monday, October 27, 2025, we will donate twelve cases of bottled water to three schools in the District Three community and three cases to families.”

The schools are Ebenezer Thomas Primary School, The BVI Seventh-day Adventist School, and St George’s Secondary School. While this is a one-time contribution by One Mart Superstore for this year, Mr Willock noted in a press release that he will seek additional corporate support from others to assist the three schools with needs ranging from water to school supplies and other requests they have made.

'No stranger to giving back'

One Mart's Marketing Manager, Ms Verna A. Samuel, stated that One Mart is “no stranger to giving back to the community as our long history of donations and other philanthropy works are well known throughout the Territory”. She noted that “we strongly believe in our corporate responsibility to help where we can.”

Over the past three years, Mr Willock and his Third District Committee, along with Ms Forbes, have contributed numerous items to the three schools in the Sea Cows Bay community, including books, backpacks, chairs, lunch benches, fans, graduation prizes, and various teaching materials.

For the same investment a good quality water filter could have been installed and refillable water bottles used instead of 15 cases of single use plastic. The students could have learned about proper water filtration and safety all while reducing the amount of single use plastic. It’s wonderful that some water was donated but much like giving fish it’s far better to teach fishing.

My thoughts exactly. Let's discourage the use of the single use plastic water bottles and teach the children the importance of keeping them out of our already poorly managed garbage disposal system.

Yes Willock has made mistakes? but if you look at his record overall, he has done a pretty good job in all the public positions he had and I just think that needs to continue as we consider him for district 3 once Fraser retires

When someone decides to pick a new representative one has to look at their record. If one has a good record of working hard, is passionate and has a lot of drive to be successful, I think that person should be looked at seriously, and Willock has gotten my attention

I must placed on record Mr Willock’s unwavering commitment to ensure that third district residents have access to stable, well-paying jobs and are positioned to benefit from our economic growth.

KEEP THE ANNUAL JOB FAIR GOING EVEN IF YOU DONT WIN

This is a TERRIBLE donation - toxic microplastics and chemicals leaching from water bottles into children's bodies, and also increasing the waste problem. Where is the sense in this??

But when is someone going to come up with a school lunch program. They can at least have a school lunch program at least twice a week. Honestly, if someone start this program, they will definitely get my vote.
