Willock defends work in D3 amidst concerns by Hon Fraser
Mr Willock in a statement released on social media on March 20, 2024, said: “I have been bombarded with phone calls, video clips and WhatsApp messages, from District Three residents that my very own longtime friend, mentor, and District Representative the Honourable Julian Fraser, RA, has allegedly attacked me for doing work in my very own community.”
Hon Fraser’s contention was on Forbes and Willock’s use of the phrase ‘Building on Hon Fraser’s legacy,” when undertaking community work. This he said is causing confusion over whether he will be contesting the seat at the next General Elections.
Mr Willock in response said, “Yes, I have said that I am building on Honourable Fraser’s legacy and that does not in any way mean that he is no longer running for office. Building on one’s legacy means that many programmes that Honourable Fraser has done in District Three, Ms Kishma P. Forbes and I have set out to make small contributions out of love for the community, by partnering with the private sector.”
Hon Fraser has a legacy - Willock
Mr Willock said that in the 25 years in office, Hon Fraser has a legacy of job fairs and making contributions to back-to-school events in the District.
“Since Hon Fraser’s job fairs are no longer happening, Ms Forbes and I wrote to him in 2023 requesting that both him and his District Committee partner with us to do some of these activities. We believe they will go a long way in helping with the struggles and economic hardships of our people. Each event we carry out Hon Fraser is invited, as he is the elected District Representative and, to that end, we continue to show him the highest regard and respect,” he added.
Hypocritical Opposition Members?
Mr Willock added that he has knowledge that some in the Opposition have chastised Hon Fraser over someone doing work in his District and “acting like the District Representative.”
“However, those were the same questionable figures who did not agree for him to be the Premier when the Opposition had 7 seats following the 2023 General Elections, but that’s politics!” he added.
“While I wished I was there to advise Hon Fraser before he was led to make his statement at the recent Opposition Press Conference of March 19, 2024, I would have humbly and politely suggested that he focused on the dire water situation in District Three, jobs for young people in the District, cleaning up the Sea Cows Bay Harbour, economic development for the District, and pathways to alleviating the growth in suffering and hardship of the people in the community, especially some of our seniors (some having to go to bed hungry according to what they have told me),” the statement continued.
Willock says he will continue to build on 'work' of Hon Fraser
Willock added that he has the highest regard for Hon Fraser as he is loved by the majority of the people of District Three and the entire Territory. “This level of support and respect has been demonstrated with 7 consecutive election victories for him.”
Mr Willock assured that he and Ms Forbes will continue partnering with the private sector in helping to build on the work of Hon Fraser. He added that the senior legislator has opened a lot of doors for him and offered kindness to him personally and in his career as a public officer.

Clearly, there is a community need for services and Willock and Forbes are stepping up. Providing community service is not only the province of the elected member(s) but also can be provided by community minded residents, etc. Yes, it may be uncomfortable that other Opposition members are opining that Mr. Fraser is being outshine but that is Fraser’s fault. Fraser should take note of this quote:”Physician heal thyself” by Jesus. Some interpret it to mean treat/heal thyself. Still others interpret it in a secular sense to mean do the damn things you profess, promise to do. The Liberator is not the only elected member to blame though, should it? No. What happen to the 4 At Large Members?
Politicians overpromising and underdelivering is foreign to effective representing. Nonetheless, the people blame the politicians for poor service but they must blame themselves. They should reward top performing politicians and kick the poor performers to the dung heap.
Instead,,they feast on crumbs from the table, consistently electing the same poor performers, expecting different results. Einstein say that is insanity. Political patronage, dependency, and corruption are cancers which must be eradicated altogether. Talk, talk, talk with no action is foreign to success, spinning the wheels in the sand..Furthermore, we must rid the process of a) Peter principled people, b) toxic cowboys and cowgirls, c) people retired on active duty (ROAD scholars, ie, retired on active duty). This must and should apply to elected and appointed members. The Westminister system is a damn frig, for it embraces the Peter Principle, ie, promoting people from a level of competence to a level of incompetence.
To GateKeeper, the Frig….was on a sabbatical but had to come to say wait….wait. For it, you are a damn useful frig, calling balls and strikes as you see them. You went into deep sh** let iike providing services is not only the province of elected members but also community-minded folks. That is some heavy stuff. The Frig…. back to the hope to observe th show.
