‘We have looked @ extending [airport runway] 500 ft to the west’- Hon Rymer
“I don’t think we have reached to the point where we are deciding what will be extended,” said the man tasked with getting the project done, Minister for Communications and Works Hon Kye M. Rymer (R5) disclosed while a guest on Talking Points on ZBVI 780 AM on Monday, June 17, 2024.
No decision yet- Hon Rymer
Hon Rymer said KPMG is currently putting together the business case “so that we can decide on what we are extending.”
The Works Minister said the business case will be brought to Cabinet for approval.
“I know we have looked at extending 500 feet to the west and extending more to the east, but we haven’t decided as yet. KMPG will come to the public as to what the decision is and hear input as to the way forward,” Hon Rymer stated.
‘Start with lil bit’- Mark H. Vanterpool
Former Minister for Communications and Works Mark H. Vanterpool advised the Wheatley Government in December 2023 to undertake the airport project in strides.
“I want the airport fixed, extend it, I want some more people to come. I tell the premier tonight, don’t be getting into this big project like I did before with other projects, start with lil bit.”
Mr Vanterpool added “American [Airlines] says they want more space to turn off, add a piece to the back. Put on a little piece to the back about 500 ft, don’t wait for the other one yet. By the time you get through with that you will get through with the other piece. So, by next year, let me see the other 500 ft to the back please,” Mr Vanterpool stated at the launch of Rock Café by Pussers in Valley, Virgin Gorda on December 12, 2023.

HAVE PUFF DADDY * KIE * CREATING THE SPECIAL EFFECTS ○¿○ ( IF THEY CANNOT OR WON'T FIX THE ROADS , THE EXTENTION MIGHT BE A DISASTER WAITING TO HAPPEN ) GOD FOBID ????
Y'all have no vision so you will never see how easy it is to make shit happen in this country.
No departure or arrival information.
Rude and drunk taxi drivers
Unpleasant immigration workers (they can be friendly when doing their job)
Unreliable service schedules
Too few and unhappy fire crews.
First we obviously need to have a decent airport prior to extending it.
But the ministers and cronies probably can’t make enough money by making slight improvements. They need a big projects to take big money from.
Even if we get our airport extension, regular folks will be OK with the extra steps through St. Thomas so we can get cheaper prices.
Although it is in our best interest that Terence B. Lettsome's Airport be extended sometime in the future, but should now be headed by this administration that is now in power, no, no, no, no, a million times no.
They finance the project because they know you can not repay and they will end up with the asset.
Just like they did in Antigua, Dominica to name a few the islands.
If you think BVI is immune try it with them.
None of them come in and make a case for extending the airport. They don't come and tell us what the vision is. Why the airport needs to be extended. What the benefit of extending it is to the BVI people. How the BVI will accommodate the increased arrivals and what that BVI will now look like. Will we switch from a nature-based high quality tourism product to a mass tourism junkyard with hotels everywhere and beaches crowded with umbrellas and rental chairs like CGB? Is this the vision? If so, why don't you ask the people what they think? If so, why don't you factor in the other factors such as the impact on local living standards, the impact on road and sewage other infrastructure and the impact on the environment and eco systems you want to destroy so you and a few of your friends can make a lot of money, while a number of Caribbean and Asian immigrants make a living wage and the BVIslanders get almost nothing at all. A dead and ugly set of islands is all we will be left with when the dollar falls to nothing and the US economy is underwater. Meanwhile, the politicians and their cronies will have hidden their winnings away in some offshore bank account, rich for generations. We see you.
