'We could have all been in Antigua with him'- Hon Skelton to Hon Walwyn

The melee happened on Thursday, April 10, 2025 as legislators debated the highly controversial report entitled ‘A Review of Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice Bodies in the British Virgin Islands Volume 2 – A Road Map for 2025 to 2035’.
Only locals are corrupt
The report concluded that everyone in the Territory is corrupt except UK nationals and only they can save the Virgin Islands from its so called “corruption”.
However, as usual, the report failed to cite any examples of widespread corruption. The police force, which some alleged is the most corrupt, is under the portfolio of the unelected UK appointed governor. It's last three Commissioners have been persons from the United Kingdom.
During the debate, former Opposition Leader Hon Skelton told the HoA that “we were supposed to be a bird sanctuary...the majority of people were supposed to be moved to Antigua... so, the Leader of the Opposition… probably, we would have all been in Antigua with him.... we would all be neighbours, you know.”
More double standards?
However, Mr Walwyn who has spent his two years in the HoA threatening the Speaker, badgering the Premier and at one point threatened to “mash him up,” calling Elected Members 'school children' and throwing words at residents, claimed to be offended with the remarks of Hon Skelton.
Speaker Hon Corine N. George–Massicote demanded that Hon Skelton apologise, and he did. Many saw the Speaker's action as a double standard in light of Hon Walwyn's past behaviour in the Legislature.
There remains growing concerns about a non-indigenous member holding the post of Opposition Leader or even Premier. The Virgin Islands constitution defines an indigenous Virgin Islander as someone having one or both of their parents and grandparents born in the Virgin Islands.
Stop the divisive politics, Premier told Walwyn
Mr Walwyn, a former Chairman of the National Democratic Party (NDP), does not fit that criteria, since none of his parents were born in the Virgin Islands; however, he was born in the Territory.
Hon Walwyn once said he could not do anything more to help Virgin Islanders.
Meanwhile, Premier and Minister of Finance Dr the Hon Natalio D. Wheatley (R7)- during his wrapup of the debate- warned Hon Walwyn against the divisive politics of pitting indigenous Virgin Islanders against non-indigenous.
According to Dr Wheatley, “We are all one people” and that even the non-indigenous residents or “those with ancestral ties will fight for the Territory when we make the call....I believe in Unity.”

look at what London is recommending towards the future of our country. Get a recording of the 10 April Sittings and listen keenly
The commission of inquiry have not one thing to do with average person on the street
Just the elected and the leadership of this country is under scrutiny and the fallout will effect you & me
Our forefathers toiled so hard
just the other day didnt a woman said she got to st john after reaching tola and paying someone 8k to be smuggled? this immigration even put out a notice?
those departments are ran by locals.. Godforbid we get a local cop.
im not saying the uk workers sent here are angels but i've seen our locals run things for years with corrupted practices which in come cases cant be helped cuz we all family and friends here cuz the island small. so best get someone from the outside with integrity and honesty
Only when they come bvi and find out how easy it is for IMMIGRANTS to do these things they want to silence locals.
- get crown lands over BVI landers
- set up business facilitating drinking food and gambling on our preserved wells and beaches
- push locals out and take government jobs
- scam locals for land
- take bvi scholarships
- cushy up for favors
- unduly influence elderly to take their land
- get NHI benefits in the hundred thousands upon landing job on bvi
- be the meet and greet at our airports and national parks mashing up the Kings English
- work in restaurants and disgust our tourist by promoting their home country as better than bvi
- saturate our public schools and say locals should go pay for private schools
- fly their country flags anywhere
The fact stands. BVI benefits are first and foremost for BVISLANDERS
THE BVI IS FOR BVISLANDERS. Some years ago, expats were out in droves commenting foolishness on bvinews website about the BVI being for everyone that comes here to live. This is how they think; they have come to take over and the politicians we vote in are not doing anything about it. We need somebody like Trump to run for office to protect BVIslanders. Someone who will have the courage to speak up and take immediate action and protect the rights of BVIslanders.
Only indigenous BVIslanders should be able to run and hold office. Point blank.
It was actually kinda funny and even true in a sense. I didn’t know Bob the Builder had it in him. The irony is that by time the UK is done with our black @$$#$, we may as well move to Antigua…
Persons who came to the BVI to work wants to have the most say!!!Go sit down!!!
Myron Walwyn response to Ronnie Skelton reference to the bird sanctuary plan of moving all BVI residents to Antigua was poor performance art, raising a storm in a tea cup. Ronnie did not call down Antigua. The realist was that Antigua was in charge, control the BVI under the Leewards Island Federation which had its head office in Antigua. Is Walwyn ashamed of where his parents were born? He should not be , for he should not be. He is a hypocrite, for attempts to use his expat familial connection as a political tool/weapon to his advantage. Now he is pretending to be offended. The biggest drama q….n, bully, lambaster, attack dog, etc, turning to performative act. Please. Geh me a %$^^$g break mehson. Antigua meh fam cum from fe real and proud of it but Tola me lib now. No problem. Walwyn get a frigging F for his poor performance. I never ever want to hear he talk about he Antiguan or Montserrat connection. Go sid down.
