ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI - Social Commentator Julio S. Henry has called on the people of the VI to stand with a singular voice and reject any attempt by the United Kingdom (UK) Government to suspend the constitution of the territory and impose direct rule.

Henry made the call during a public meeting last evening, May 1, 2022, at Althea Scatliffe Primary School, on the topic of no suspension of the VI Constitution and the way forward.

According to Mr Henry, “We [VI] at this point in our development, we cannot afford to have our constitution to be suspended and put us in a situation where our hands will be tied for the next two years, if not more.”

The topic of the suspension of the Constitution comes following the arrest of Premier Andrew A. Fahie (R1) over drug conspiracy charges and the release of the CoI report by Governor John J. Rankin CMG, where the commissioner recommended, amongst other measures, Direct Rule by the UK.

Virgin Islanders march against direct rule

Today, May 2, 2022, scores of Virgin islanders (VI) gathered in front of Government House to demonstrate against UK direct rule and the suspension of the VI constitution.

Henry, in his appeal to the people, also warned them about information sources. “I would encourage each and every one of us to pay attention to the information that’s coming out,” he said regarding to the people of the VI.

The social commentator warned against information that goes against VI holding on to its constitution and evolving and developing. “We must be concerned when information is coming especially at the rate that it is coming,” he added.

The reason this corruption has been perpetuated for so long is because it's not just the politicians involved, it's seasoned civil servants as well. I've been victimized may times by some of them in the various departments. Let the UK help us create the systems and processes that will bring about fairness, efficiency and equity. GO SIT DOWN SAM, you have been a part of the problem .

Sam we are tired listening to double tongue commenter as you and some others are when you are getting what you want. But how about the thousands have, and are continuing to suffer under the VIP Administration unjustly.
The UK has no ill intentions to abolish and deprived the people of the British Virgin Islands of their just contitusion rights. The UK's intentions is to help us to practice good government for the betterment of all the citizens of this country, and stamp out corruption, that is commonly being practice, especially by corrupt politicians.
You Sam, and others of the same mindset would have many to believe that the UK is the enemy of the leader of the British Virgin Islands. The facts are the corrupt politicians, and many that profit fr their unjust behavior are the main enemy that hinder good governance.
Contrition don't need to be abolished, but it surly needs reformation. Unfortunately, greedy people like you and many others don't care, because corrupted politicians are serving your selfish purpose, by mismanaging our finances unjustly on a dairy basis.
People everywhere differ on various opinion. It is a personal right, but many to the people of the British Virgin Islands suit the following quote:
    "Empty buckets make great noise."
To the contrary, buckets of fresh water save many from dying from thirst.
Many, if not most of the noise keeping people of the British Virgin Islands, in regards to our failed issues that have caused the UK to recommended good governance by our political leaders are justified.
    If the UK
were to allowed you, and other bigmouth like you, Sam, things would go from bad to worst.

Please bear with me a little longer:
History shows the a number of European countries have fought war over these countries, namely: England, Denmark, and others. Evidence shows the many of the Forts, tools of those conflicts are presently here.
England and Denmark claimed the virgin Islands, what was called the Danish virgin Islands was sold to America, now called usvi. The British Virgin Islands is owned, politically, and military speaking by the UK, though they gave special rights under their rule

    Question:
What make some of us even think that we have equal
rights as they do have to this country to demand of them to bow to our demands? In addition to this, are we willing to fight militarily to take it from them?
Wisdom is far more precious than silver and gold.
If you don't believe me, ask Hon. Premier Andrew A Fahie.

The British Government can do what it likes - it owns BVI ( for a few centuries now). The BVI politicians have shown they cannot run this country. Apart the CoI issues when I drive to work I see scrap cars and boats in Sea Cows Bay (now called Shipwreck Bay), damaged buildings still not rebuilt from the damage cause by Hurricane Irma - 4 and half years ago, the Government building that is not fixed yet, the same potholes that get filled and reappear as the work is so shoddy, poor roads, poor sewage, poor people begging in the streets of BVI, the unsolved murders, drug smuggling, the guns, the illegal bikes and bike deaths, the overpriced food and goods, overpriced cars, overpriced medical care and the cost to the NHI, the labor and immigration delays, the lack of funding for schools and education, the fiasco with BVI Airways, the cost of the Pier Park, the cost of the wall and other overpriced contracts, the neopotism. So why would the UK want to take over the BVI? Because the BVI is not being run properly.
