SPANISH TOWN, Virgin Gorda, VI- Vulnerable males in the Virgin Gorda community received assistance from the Safe Haven Transitional Centre through its April 4, 2025, outreach programme.

According to an April 11, 2025, press release from the Ministry of Health and Social Development, gift vouchers from Riteway Foods Market were distributed to male individuals identified as most in need.

“We are especially grateful to Mourant BVI for their generous sponsorship, which has made this initiative possible. Through this gesture of care, dignity, and inclusion, we are able to reach men who may be facing life challenges,” Director of the Safe Haven Transitional Centre, Mrs Nellville George Bronstorph said.

Centre committed to supporting stability and wellness

According to the director, the centre has been committed to supporting individuals on their journey toward stability and wellness.

“At Safe Haven Transitional Centre, and the Ministry of Health and Social Development, we believe in the power of community. We extend a special thank you to all those who helped to make this initiative possible, and allowed us to make a difference in the lives of others.”

The outreach, the release said, was coordinated in collaboration with Ms Laurel Freeman, Programme Director of Children & Family Support Services within the Social Development Department.

She partnered with the Virgin Gorda Social Development Office, where Social Welfare Officer Ms Sherilyn Roberts played a key role in identifying and reaching the most vulnerable members of the community.

“The initiative reflects the ministry’s ongoing commitment to promoting social inclusion and supporting individuals on their journey to wellness,” the press release added.
