‘Vote for anyone but NDP’ – Donald E. de Castro
“Do not let the NDP fool you as they have fooled so many young and greedy people. He said four more years of the NDP would be disastrous and not to the best interest of this Territory, but also expressed reservations about Honourable Julian Fraser RA as Premier.
Although Mr de Castro is not too pleased about the Virgin Islands Party (VIP) bringing in Biwater and Digicel into the territory, he said the party now has some young and bright newcomers with new ideas...so if we would elect a few strong minded independent candidates we can have a great coalition government,” he said.
Coalition governments work
In a comment to this news site yesterday June 2, 2015, de Castro said that for this territory to move forward, a coalition government is its only hope. “There are coalition governments all over the world and they are working,” he said. “I don’t see why we can’t have a coalition government if they’re working all over the world. It cannot be worse than what we have now,” said de Castro.
“I am hoping that my article will get people to understand the importance of voting…not only who to vote for but more important that they must vote against the NDP,” he told this news site.
PEP committing political suicide
Mr de Castro noted that in the early beginning he thought the People’s Empowerment Party (PEP) would have been a great alternative to both the NDP and the VIP.
“Unfortunately their philosophy was for the Executive Committee not involving the membership. What I am saying for all the months that they were in existence not one single membership meeting was held so all the candidates were picked by the Executive Committee. Eventually, I was told that membership meetings are only held once per year but with a new Party and election date uncertain and you not involving the members. Are you not committing political suicide?” he asked.
