VI’s U17s suffer 2nd defeat in Costa Rica

SAN JOSE, Costa Rica- The Virgin Islands have suffered another defeat at the CONCACAF U17 Men’s Qualifiers in Costa Rica, going down 0-5 to the hosts at Estadio Nacional in San José, on February 11, 2025.

The loss means the Virgin Islands have now slipped to 4th in Group B, only ahead of St Maarten.

Isaac Badilla continued his scoring form for Costa Rica in the 26’ with his fourth goal of the campaign.

Brayan Calderón extended the lead in the 43’. Marcus Brown added a third in the 60 before Calderón collected his brace in the 66’.

Nick Bennette added a fifth for Los Ticos in the 83’ to cap off the victory.

VI slip to 4th in Group B

After convincingly winning their opening game (4-nil against St Maarten) on February 7, 2025 the VI fell to Trinidad and Tobago (1-3) on February 9.

The 2025 Concacaf U-17 Men’s Qualifiers is 35 nations fighting for the eight Concacaf berths at the 2025 FIFA U-17 World Cup.

Only the group winners will advance to the World Cup.

    The USVI were beaten 22-nil by the USA. A 5-0 loss to a strong team like Costa Rica is not too bad. Keep going strong youngsters
