VI’s Thad A. Lettsome launches VI campaign in 2023 PanAm Games

SANTAGO, Chile – Virgin Islands sailor, Thad A. Lettsome representing the territory in the ILCA 7 dinghy class in Santiago, Chile for the 2023 PanAm Games, launched Team BVI’s campaign today, October 28, 2023, with the 2 races in the ILCA 7 series.

Lettsome speaking to the press said the opening 2 races didn’t go as planned after encountering varying conditions during the three days he has spent on the water.

He hinted that with medium windy conditions and huge swells for the first two races, he is still assessing conditions having finished 13th out of 22 competitors in the first race and placed 17th in his second race.

Lettsome anticipates that the 2nd race will be his discard race, as sailors can discard one race for the best overall score.

With two down, eight more races will be undertaken for a total of ten to be completed in Cofradia Nautica del Pacifio, Algarrobo, Chile by November 5, 2023.

The next set of races in the ILCA 7 dinghy class take place tomorrow, October 29, 2023.
