ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI - One of the best in the Virgin Islands' Financial Services Sector, Ms Simone E. Martin has been appointed Deputy Director in the Financial Services Commission (FSC) of Anguilla.

According to a release from the Anguilla Government, Ms Martin’s new appointment comes as she is making the switch from being Head of Enforcement in the Virgin Islands (VI) Financial Services Sector.

Wealth of Experience

“Ms Martin brings a wealth of regulatory experience to the role including on fiduciary services, insurance, and investment business. The Governor (Tim Foy, OBE) and his office warmly welcomes Simone to her role and look forward to working closely with her and the FSC’s leadership team as we advance Anguilla as a compliant and well-regulated international financial centre,” the release notes.

Back in 2011, Virgin Islands News Online (VINO) featured Ms Martin as a “Young Professional” when it was reported that at the age 35, she was entrusted with an important responsibility in the Financial Services Sector; Deputy Director - Fiduciary Services, Banking and Fiduciary Services Division.

Amongst her role at that time in the local sector, Ms Martin was having daily communication with the trust companies and making sure that they comply with all the existing legislation.

“Every licensee has obligations that must be fulfilled and is answerable to the commission. We also carry out on-site inspections, which means going and check to verify what is being said is being done,” she said back in 2011.

Immense Growth

It is no doubt that with the passage of some eight years of growth in the industry, her skills and knowledge would have been sharpened immensely to take up the post in Anguilla.

Ms Martin is also a teacher, having taught the Finance and Economics classes from 2004 - 2008 at the H. Lavity Stoutt Community College (HLSCC) in the VI and she also assisted in the training of staff on the provision of Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorist Financing (AML /CTF) in the VI.

The Editorial Board & Staff of VINO wishes Ms Martin every success on her new appointment.

Why can’t we show love among our people when it is of positivity?

Why some negative comments exhibited? We get that everyday: Balance- is it that there are some treacherous souls among us who still need critical and proper education to realize the actual gains our women are making in society. Encourage- for if they succeed we all succeed, male and female, they produce us all.

They are the creation of what we acknowledge as life. Give Thanks!

If she is that good why did our government didnt do all they can to keep her here in the BVI.. The BVI educates these people , only to mistreat them and frustrate them to leave and then bring in a bunch of outsiders who dont know anything to run things here..Sad Sad A person is sure not honored in his own land

She taught me. My wealth of knowledge is attributed to her, for which I will forever be grateful. A little Warning Anguilla, she sets high standards for herself and will expect the same from her subordinates.
    Congrats Ms Martin, well deserved.
