VI’s oldest citizen Robelteen Smith passes at age 107
This information was confirmed to Virgin Islands News Online by the woman’s daughter, Pearl Smith.
According to Smith, her mother had been hospitalised on Old Year’s Day but had returned home on January 7, 2016 only to be hospitalised again. She was brought home on Tuesday February 2, 2016 in accordance with her wishes and passed away two days later.
“She was such a great lady and everybody will attest to this,” were the brief words of Pearl Smith.
Meanwhile, a statement from the family read: “Relatives and friends are advised of the passing of our beloved centenarian Robelteen Smith of Sound Road, East End, Tortola, Virgin Islands. She died on February 4, 2016 at her home at the blessed and honourable age of 107. She was the oldest citizen of the BVI.”
The late Robelteen Smith will be laid to rest on Saturday February 13, 2016. Viewing will be held at the Road Town Apostolic Faith Church from 9:30-10:30am with the funeral service to follow immediately.
