VI’s D’Moi M. Hodge stands out in Lakers' visual roster for 2023/24 season
The Los Angeles Lakers posted a montage on its Facebook page yesterday, October 23, 2023, announcing its roster for the 2023/2024 season. Notably, Hodge- the first NBA player from the [British] Virgin Islands- appears on the roster with the Territorial Flag wrapped around him.
Hodge signed a 2-way contract with Los Angeles Lakers earlier this year.
Always a standout player
Ahead of joining the Lakers to play alongside LeBron James, Hodge was the Missouri Tigers' second-leading scorer last season, averaging 14.7 points per game while being named to the All-SEC Tournament team. He led the team with 100 3-pointers while knocking down 40% of his attempts from behind the arc.
With Cleveland State, Hodge was the Horizon League’s Defensive Player of the Year for the 2021-22 season, which showed once he joined the Tigers.
Hodge also broke Lynn Hardy’s single-season steals record by recording 91 of his own.
While the visual homage might seem like a small one, it comes as Hodge has been widely celebrated in his home country following an electrifying opening season in the National Basketball Association (NBA) 2023 Summer League Games.
On Thursday evening, August 3, 2023, the people of Cane Garden Bay on Tortola provided Hodge with a ceremonial ‘Key to the Bay.”
Earlier in the Year, Virgin Islands Premier Dr the Hon Natalio D. Wheatley (R7) announced that the Cane Garden Bay Basketball Court will also be renamed the ‘D’Moi Hodge Basketball Court’ in honour of its famous Cane Garden Bay resident.

This is a big deal for him, for his career, his family, His country. It should make news. Kudos to Vino and all the news site who make sure his name is in every news online and in the media.
He gets to play with some of the big players in the NBA, meet them, talk with them, play with them, sit besides them... Of course this should be news all over the Virgin Islands. Anybody would relish such an opportunity. Stop your nonsense and go get a life, so we could be proud of you too when you make the news.
To No Disrespect, it is a BIG £’king deal. I think you know it is a Big £’king deal but you may be narcissist, wanting attention. Don’t be a hater. D’moi was not given anything; he worked damn hard for the opportunity to get on the LA Lakers, one of the premier NBA teams, roster with one of greatest NBA players and a sure Hall of Famer. Join the celebration parade my brother.
Pure love alone... I wish you the best in the coming season. Represent mah boi
Let's encourage him and encourage the other young persons to keep pushing
